SENIOR DATA SCIENTIST
SUMMARY:

Our 360° customer view allows us to anticipate customer needs, thus enabling our clients to connect with their customers in meaningful, relevant ways. We expect all data scientists to be hands on with respects to the analysis of a retailer database, using the full suite of 84.51° technical tools - SAS, SQL, R, Excel, and other specific internal tools - to create timely, relevant, and actionable insights.
The Health and Wellness team within Personalization and Loyalty Strategy is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join their team. In this role, you will apply your data science skills in the fast-growing digital media marketing industry and learn what makes a media plan successful & how predictive analytics are used to identify the best households to target for a campaign. You will gain experience using data and customer behavior to shape marketing strategies while also developing your technical skills by building and enhancing computationally efficient processes and tools/dashboards. Communications and media for Kroger Health is a relatively new area for 84.51° with lots of opportunities to test and learn new ideas. RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Leading and/or playing a large supporting role in the data science aspects of media plans from strategy and planning to targeting to measurement.
- Interpreting results and developing actionable recommendations from the data analysis with the goal of maximizing the impact of Kroger's Pharmacy related communications.
- Contributing ideas and providing data science support for business initiatives focused on helping customer's live healthier lives through personalized communications.
- Working closely with key internal stakeholders to ensure sound knowledge of client objectives and customer insight, to subsequently design best-in-class solutions.
- Identifying opportunities for standardization & automation of existing solutions and processes to enable 84.51° to realize the maximum potential from our teams.
- Leading standardization, automation, and efficiency improvement projects
- Leading and/or playing a large supporting role in exploratory/open ended data science projects (e.g. deep dives into patient journeys, analyses of new customer & retained customer value, predictive models, etc.)
- Effectively managing projects, tasks and stakeholders to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget and to brief specification while ensuring minimal downtime and maximum utilization.
- Quality Assurance of own code and that of team members to ensure the highest quality work is being delivered to our clients.
- Challenging and improving 84.51° analytical capabilities/products.
- Following best practice in disk space management to help ensure that disk space is not fully utilized such that all deliverables across the business can be delivered on time.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE :
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, analytics, data science, or related discipline
- 2+ years of experience using advanced algorithms, programming languages, or technologies in the development of technical analytics solutions or capabilities.
- 2+ years of experience in extracting insights from large databases, translating market research into actionable solutions and presenting findings and recommendations to clients
- 2+ years of experience in consulting or professional services
- Experience querying data from relational databases using SQL.
- Experience using R, Python, or other similar statistical software to develop analytical solutions; experience with R is preferred;
- Experience using Github
- Experience targeting and measuring effectiveness of personalized communications and media plan is a plus
- Experience with data wrangling, data cleaning and prep, dimensionality reduction.
- Experience with Big Data concepts, tools, and architecture (e.g. Hadoop, Pig, Hive, Spark, Sparkling Water).
- Ability to create computationally efficient solutions.
- Able to quickly come up to speed on new processes, new solutions, and new data
- Able to effectively manage time across multiple projects active at the same time
- Able to work well under both tight deadlines as well as longer projects where you set your own deadlines.
- Data visualization skills and ability to present technical solutions to non-technical audience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong analytical, creative problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Strong business acumen; retail pharmacy and/or grocery experience is a plus.
