About the Role
Uber is home to one of the largest and most unique insurance programs in the world and insurance data lies at its foundation. We're looking for an experienced data analyst to manage our critical insurance data infrastructure. This will involve everything from designing new data models and improving existing data processes to expanding the scope of the data program to support Uber's ever-growing portfolio. This team works cross-functionally to ensure that our data processes are aligned with industry best practices and stakeholder needs.
What You'll Do
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders, including actuaries, program managers, data scientists and data analysts to identify challenges and opportunities for insurance data models• Create robust data models to unlock new analytical opportunities• Design comprehensive quality checks to facilitate accurate analyses and to ensure Uber's insurance data meets compliance standards• Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to build and improve on the availability, integrity, accuracy, and reliability of data logging and data pipelines.
Basic Qualifications
• M.S. or Bachelors degree in Math, Economics, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or other quantitative fields• Advanced SQL expertise• Demonstrated experience working with big data frameworks (ex. Hadoop, Spark)• Experience with Excel and some dashboarding/data visualization (ex. Tableau)• 5+ years experience in a data-focused role, preferably in the insurance industry
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience building/maintaining SOX compliant control data environment• Actuarial experience• Proficiency in a scripting language (Python preferred)• A passion for data quality• Excellent judgment, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills• Ability to balance attention to detail with swift execution• Experience working with insurance data• Prior managerial experience• Basic understanding of insurance concepts (ex. rate, premium, exposure, loss cost) and terminology
