Meeting your future team:

Collibra is looking for a Senior Data Intelligence Manager in our growing Data Office to enable our business to find, understand, and trust our enterprise data. This role will report to the Head of Data Office and will be an integral part in helping Collibra’s rapid growth and our thought leading position in data intelligence.

This is a hands-on, roll up your sleeves position and requires a passion for data, data quality, data policy, compliance, and risk management, as well as metadata, and cataloging. You are unable to shed a continued enthusiasm for making data meaningful. You communicate as well with technology as with business stakeholders. You pride yourself in optimizing the organizational environment in which others can efficiently create effective and well-understood data products.

You will bring your experience to build out Collibra’s enterprise data intelligence strategy and drive internal adoption of Collibra Data Intelligence Cloud. You’ll create and lead Data Councils made up of Data, Business, Privacy, and Technical Stewards across all key business areas and data domains, instilling a culture of data literacy through standard programming that enables ownership of future Data Councils across the enterprise.

The Data Intelligence Manager at Collibra is responsible for:

  • Develop, communicate, and train employees on standards, policies and procedures for the data governance policy within the business, while monitoring for compliance.
  • Manage the delivery of the data governance program.
  • Manage, configure, monitor the internal instances of the Collibra platform directly.
  • Lead and develop subject matter expert teams of stewards across Collibra to ensure data governance policies and practices are embedded throughout the company.
  • Establish best practice and ownership of the corporate taxonomy and ontology and develop rules for their use in alignment with and in support of the business.
  • Align the data governance program to information security, privacy, and policy compliance strategies, embedding their principals as data governance workflow controls.
  • Incorporate data quality standards and practices into the data ecosystem to foster thorough trust in data.

You Have:

  • 5+ years experience performing data and analytics projects including but not limited to data governance, quality,  measurement, and visualizations
  • Direct experience with implementing, managing, and/or using the Collibra platform, as well as Collibra University certification such as Data Governance Lead, Steward, or Solution Architect
  • An understanding of information management practices including information lifecycle management, data modelling, master data management and carrying out business audits and requirements gathering
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases, query authoring as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases (e.g., time series, graph)
  • Experience implementing policy, procedure, quality assurance and change control programs
  • Knowledge of IT systems, applications, technologies (including cloud and SaaS), and dashboarding tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Redash

You Are:

  • An influencer whose skills are critical to easily embed with existing teams and must be able to advocate, persuade, and drive consensus at all levels of the business
  • Deeply technical, passionate, and analytical about the insights data can deliver
  • Process oriented as you know you can’t accelerate at scale without continuously improving processes
  • Process driven and familiar with supporting different types of stakeholders, and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
  • A strong communicator in English, both written and oral, applying those skills for technical and business audiences in the form of documentation and requirements
  • Experienced at identifying, prioritizing, and getting buy-in for data opportunities within a large organization

Measuring Success:

Within your first month, you will familiarize yourself with the existing data intelligence platform and data products by diving into the architecture, existing data sets, as well as the owners and stakeholders of each.

Within your third month, you will identify and plan improvements to the existing data governance practices, implement standards and best practices for data definitions and cataloging, and begin leading formal Data Council groups in multiple business areas.

Within your sixth month, you will be popular with data teams and business stakeholders across the company as they benefit from the data governance practices and culture of data literacy you’ve built, trusting in the data they consume to make informed business decisions. The data intelligence standards you’ve created now empower additional Data Council ownership throughout the business, with your oversight.
