We are looking for a Data Engineer to join a growing Data Engineering team. You will be working closely with the Product, Full-stack Engineering and Business Intelligence teams ensuring that all relevant data is captured according to company standards and flowing into the enterprise data lake.

What you’ll do:

  • Work closely with the web and mobile product and design teams to understand the data that needs to be captured
  • Understand the current Animoto data-pipelines and build ETL processes to support new data flows
  • Work with the Business Intelligence team to understand requirements and ensure the data is captured and stored
  • Write clean, reusable, well-architected, self-documenting and testable code
  • Participate in code reviews and be the data expert for specific projects within Animoto

What we’re looking for:

  • 2+ years of experience building data pipelines using Apache Airflow
  • 2+ years of experience with databases such as MySql, PostgreSQL
  • 2+ years of experience with Python
  • A proven ability to effectively collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and other engineers
  • Be able to work in ambiguity and drive data related decisions
  • Attention to detail and understand pitfalls in data quality and how to rectify them
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • A passion for tackling and solving challenging problems
  • Strong Computer Science background

Bonus points:

  • Experience building Dynamic DAG’s in Apache Airflow
  • Experience using AWS products like Redshift, S3, Kinesis
  • Experience using products like Looker
  • Experience with ticketing systems like Jira
  • Experience with applications like DataDog and Snowplow
