Position Summary

The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for designing, coding, and maintaining data pipelines that clean, process, and harmonize data from varied sources. This position will be responsible for facilitating an extended knowledge transfer from outside partners to the internal Hollywood Park team. As a Senior Data Engineer you will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of multiple data pipelines and storage with a focus on efficiently making data ready and available to consume by data analysts and business teams.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain integration flows within the Boomi platform to support automations and make business processes repeatable, scalable, and secure
  • Create, operate, and own transport of data from internal and external sources into our data warehouse for storage
  • Coordinate solutions with cross-functional teams, for understanding how to properly pull, archive, and make production application data available for analysis
  • Help support the data warehouse and build out a robust infrastructure for advanced analytics
  • Hands-on ETL design and development of complex data pipelines from multiple systems
  • Monitor, triage, and fix infrastructure and execution issues within our ETL systems
  • Automate, monitor, and ensure uptime of production data pipelines and integrations
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and remediate performance and data quality issues
  • Produce detailed design documentation, unit test plans and well documented code
  • Collaboratively design data models and solutions with analysts and business teams
  • Utilize source control tools to maintain version control for databases and code

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Extensive experience with Boomi integration and development tools
  • Extensive experience in designing and implementing Real time, Batch and ETL integrations
  • Bachelor’s Degree in MIS, Computer Science, Math, Engineering or comparable major
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform and its products (Cloud Data Fusion, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Apigee) a plus

Required Skills

  • Expertise of ETL and data pipeline development and deployment
  • Understanding of connectors and data sources (e.g., flat files, web APIs, SFTP, databases)
  • Understanding of data engineering programming languages 
  • Expertise with databases and database objects
  • Source control knowledge
  • Generalist, who can get up-to-speed quickly with new technologies 
  • Excellent planning, organization and time management skills including the ability to support and prioritize multiple projects
  • Analytical thinker with excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders across the organization.
  • Ability to think creatively
  • Self-motivated and can work independently
  • Strong organizational skills
