Functions may include database architecture, engineering, design, optimization, security, and administration; as well as data modeling, big data development, Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) development, storage engineering, data warehousing, data provisioning and other similar roles. Responsibilities may include Platform-as-a-Service and Cloud solution with a focus on data stores and associated eco systems. Duties may include management of design services, providing sizing and configuration assistance, ensuring strict data quality, and performing needs assessments. Analyzes current business practices, processes and procedures as well as identifying future business opportunities for leveraging data storage and retrieval system capabilities. Manages relationships with software and hardware vendors to understand the potential architectural impact of different vendor strategies and data acquisition. May design schemas, write SQL or other data markup scripting and helps to support development of Analytics and Applications that build on top of data. Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Partner with project teams and data architecture leadership to create solutions for projects and operational issues for existing and proposed functionality
  • With the help of the Data Architect, implement and advise on strategies for the use of BI & Analytics inside Claims Manager (Web App) utilizing Qlik Sense Enterprise
  • With the help of the Data Architect, implement dynamic BI (Self-service) framework allowing the end user to create custom BI and data exports using any or all of the Claim (EDI 837) and Claim Edit (EDI 277) data
  • Build dashboards and self-service BI utilizing Qlik Sense Enterprise and SQL

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience with SQL (extensive troubleshooting and query performance tuning skills for Oracle or SQL Server)
  • 1+ years of experience with ETL
  • 1+ years of experience with one or more BI/Analytics tools (e.g. QlikView, QlikSense, Tableau, Power BI, etc.)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • Experience with very large relational databases (10+ TB)
  • Experience with Data Warehouses and/or Data Marts
  • Experience with Healthcare industry data, specifically claims and/or claim editing
  • Experience with QlikSense and/or QlikView
  • Experience with Snowflake
  • Self-directed and accepts ownership of work, requiring minimal supervision
  • Effective communications skills in English - both written and spoken

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
