We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join a team within the Platform organization whose mission is to improve the user experience for dataset producers and consumers through the development, implementation, and promotion of "Golden Dataset" data quality standards. Golden Datasets are key foundational datasets that support important Spotify features and are essential for our business. It is a new and exciting program where you will get the chance to work with experienced data engineers across Spotify, driving improvements in data quality at the source.

What you'll do:

  • Work with teams across Spotify, providing them with hands-on support to improve the quality of their data
  • Shape and define standard methodologies for data production and consumption in areas such as data modeling, integrity controls, documentation, and interface stability, versioning and change management
  • Initiate and drive improvements through company-wide programs and certification processes related to code and data quality
  • Identify and automate quality program criteria to ensure scalable quality across the organization
  • Help map the landscape of Spotify data entities, focusing on foundational datasets that support critical features, leading to a well-established catalog of entities and improving the overall quality of their data

Who you are:

  • Have strong coding skills, preferably in Scala, Python, and Java
  • Strong experience in SQL, primarily BigQuery dialect
  • You have experience with JVM-based data processing frameworks such as Beam and Spark
  • Knowledgeable about data modeling, data access, and data storage techniques and are passionate about defining and evangelizing their standard methodologies
  • You are adept at building positive relationships with colleagues and multiple stakeholders
  • Able to adapt quickly to different teams and environments, being able to switch context quickly while maintaining productivity and effectiveness
  • Care deeply about code and data quality and voicing support for its best practices
  • You are self-driven and able to draw on your experience to identify, codify, and promote best practices for data quality across a large data engineering organization
