General Summary

The Senior Data Developer leads the daily activities of the team responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of the district's data center. Proactively mentors and grows the team, identifies the required skills, facilitates discussions to grow the team to their fullest potential. Make recommendations for software, hardware, and data storage upgrades. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and understand requirements and opportunities to support data-informed decision making. Oversee the specification, development, and implementation of new or redesigned processes, reports, and policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

    • Data Systems
      • Coordinate updating, importing, exporting, and reporting of data.
      • Collaborate on design, development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of data and data systems (ie., SIS).
      • Schedule needed upgrades and replacements.
      • Oversee the Tableau server and licensing.
      • Provide a long term vision for reporting needs of the district.
    • Data Requests
      • Respond to data requests.
      • Transform data to integrate across district systems.
    • Data Visualization
      • Provide information via data visualizations using Tableau or another BI tool.
      • Disseminate information to appropriate stakeholders.
      • Provide training for staff (including administrators) on use of software as it relates to data visualization.
    • Teamwork / Leadership
      • Ability to lead data team members and assist with project prioritization.
      • Ability to seek out professional learning opportunities for data team members.
      • Organize and lead data team meetings.
      • Oversee data team on-call calendar
      • Onboard and mentor new data team members.
      • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
      • Work with other employees within the department to integrate activities to meet District and department goals.
      • Keep abreast of technical and professional trends and developments impacting assessment processing and reporting; disseminate information to appropriate personnel as needs dictate. Maintain knowledge of software and technology as it relates to database management systems.
      • Participate in meetings and trainings as requested, react to change productively, and perform other duties as assigned.

Type of Position: Full time salaried

Salary: Professional/Technical Salary Schedule

Qualifications

  • Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in a technology related field or equivalent experience
  • Certification or Licensure: None required
  • Required Skills/Experience:
    • Relational database concepts
    • Advanced SQL skills including but not limited to complex queries, joins, stored procedures, functions, and job scheduling
  • Preferred Skills/Experience:
    • Object Oriented programming (OOP)
    • Tableau
    • SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
    • SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
    • Edupoint - Synergy (Student Information System)
  • Other Requirements:
    • Commitment to ethical practices.
    • Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
    • Ability to be flexible.
    • Ability to meet deadlines.
