You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Investigate key business problems through quantitative analyses of utilization and health care costs data, including institutional and medical claims, pharmacy claims, encounter data, EHR data, ETG/DRG, and other sources
  • Identifies and articulates new analytic opportunities or capability gaps between current state and desired state (e.g., system capacity, emerging technologies, data platforms, business intelligence platforms
  • Design and develop reports and insights to measure KPIs, clinical outcomes, network/program performance and gap analyses
  • Identify and implement consistent and sustainable analytic processes and methodologies in order to track and estimate program effectiveness
  • Provides analytic summaries, creates interactive visualizations for exploratory work, presents findings to various audiences(clinical, non-clinical , corporate leadership)
  • provides guidance to care delivery organizations on statistical analysis approaches to advance data driven clinical and financial value
  • Support short- and long-term affordability/strategic business activities by developing, enhancing and maintaining operational metrics and models
  • Responsible for periodic affordability trend forecasts, explanation of medical cost results and variances, evaluation of emerging medical cost issues, and development and evaluation of healthcare affordability initiatives

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Math, Biostatistics/Statistics, Actuarial Science, Economics, or a related degree
  • 5+ years of applied advanced SQL and SAS programming experience, focusing on healthcare utilization, cost drivers, and trends
  • 3+ years of experience with large data analytics, data management, extraction and analysis of claims, membership data from data warehouses, data lake/ Snowflake
  • 3+ years of data analysis experience in a managed care/health plan setting
  • Advanced Excel skills including pivots, formulas, calculations, charts, graphs, macros, etc.
  • Advanced analytical and technical skills, including Tableau and experience using business Intelligence tools


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Finance, Math, Biostatistics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Economics, or a related degree
  • EPIC Certification
  • 3+ years of leading and directing clinical affordability projects and tasks
  • Experience with Crystal Reports
  • Advanced knowledge and skill in Healthcare Operations: EMR, Practice Management System, Clinic Operations and related systems

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
