The Senior Data Analyst will be responsible for the management and manipulation of all data that support our Payor and Hospital Contract Analytics. In this role, you will be the subject matter expert on the data available in multiple data warehouses, bringing the data together, building the code to support the analytics, developing/maintaining our BI tools, and bridging the gap between the analytics and data/IT teams.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Designs, develops, tests, documents, and maintains database queries and data analysis
  • Translates large quantities of in-depth data and creates reports that display the information's overall significance
  • Works with analytics team to create a prioritized list of needs for each area and document additional requirements to enrich reporting capabilities
  • Develops data reporting processes and procedures to ensure timely delivery of daily, weekly, monthly, annual, and ad hoc reporting to management
  • Troubleshoots data integrity issues, analyzes data for completeness to meet business needs, and proposes documented solution recommendations
  • Recommends and implements new or modified workflows to improve process efficiencies with IT business partners
  • Develop innovative analytic solutions, create actionable insights, and drive better decisions and performance to help the business achieve its business objectives
  • Support analytics and process improvement data deep dive, identify and execute on new opportunities for increases in efficiencies and performance

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, Finance, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field required (4 years of comparable work experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor's degree)
  • 5+ years business intelligence and enterprise data warehouse experience utilizing SQL
  • 5+ years of experience gathering and exploring data from multiple sources using Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) connections and a scripting language (Python, R, SAS, etc.)
  • 5+ years of experience in reporting, analysis, and data management
  • 2+ years of experience with visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, DOMO, etc.)
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or advanced degree
  • Experience with Snowflake
  • Analysis experience within managed care / health insurance industry
  • Familiarity with AI and machine learning
  • Ability to demonstrate key successes on business solutions derived from analysis and deep learning
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities with special attention to accuracy and detail
  • Self-starter with a proven ability to take ownership of job responsibilities and ensure successful completion of all projects and requests
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with all levels of management, including executive and senior management teams
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task in high volume workload situations

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $79,700 to $142,600. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $87,900 to $156,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
