You will work with an agile team to shape and build out a new defense analytics hub to scale across our defense and security clients on some of their toughest issues, in a fast-paced and non-hierarchical environment.
What You'll Do
Our data delivery analysts work to provide data engineering expertise in client service. You will be responsible for coding and testing assets to deliver analytics to our customers.
You will spend ~60% of your time deploying high quality analytics solutions across our defense customers. You will also perform the transformation, filtering and aggregation of raw data into concise, accurate and focused data marts or client specific data models.
You may also be responsible for data-intensive ad hoc analytics, including novel analytics for which tools are not sufficiently push button. In addition, you will collaborate with the product and delivery team in defining the requirements of analytics products, within an agile framework. You will be an integral part of our team with opportunities for coaching and mentorship from your senior colleagues.
In order to be successful, you will be an active learner, identifying and evaluating new tools and technologies to meet requirements. It is expected that your voice and opinion be heard and expressed. We have an environment that thrives on the creation of better solutions by utilizing the variety of our people's experiences and skillsets.
The role requires US citizenship and the ability to obtain a certain level of security clearance mandated by relevant U.S government branch and or agency.
Who You'll Work With
You will join our office in either Atlanta, Dallas, Waltham, or Washington DC as part of our new Defense Analytics Product team.
You will work with our data delivery team alongside data scientists, tool developers, consultants and clients on projects that use complex data and advanced modeling to solve client problems and deliver significant measurable impact.
As the solution is developed and brought to new clients, you will have exposure to the client leadership team serving defense and national security clients, senior McKinsey leaders and consultants.
In addition to the Defense Analytics Product team, you will work with our broader ecosystem of data and analytics experts within the Social, Healthcare and Public Entities (SHaPE) practice. This team has grown to 300+ colleagues globally over the last four years. It is a unique mix of public sector and healthcare experts, statisticians, engineers, data scientists and more.
We are redefining what it means for clients to work with McKinsey by driving innovation through advanced analytics, user experience design thinking, and new product development.

An Insider's view of McKinsey & Company

What’s the vibe like in the office?

The best part about coming to work is collaborating with people who are excited to be here. They push me to think about the mission and vision of my day-to-day work. We’re driven by big-picture motivations and everything we do has value. My work has meaning and purpose.

Farah

Senior Design User Research

What projects are you most excited about?

I’m working with the disaster recovery and business continuity group on a new project called Disaster Recovery as a Service. We’re building a failover process for many of our mission-critical applications. That way, during a disaster or emergency, we can limit downtime, bring systems back online, and keep business moving.

Johnathan

Director of Cloud Security

How does the company support your career growth?

McKinsey is the first place I’ve encountered that truly enables employees to work cross functionally . We have a 20% rule, meaning I spend about 80% of my time contributing to my main team, and the other 20% contributing to other development projects. I’m learning new industries and skills, while maintaining a manageable workload.

Isa

Software Engineer

How do you empower your team to be more creative?

Creativity happens when you have an environment that is inclusive and diverse, promotes psychological safety, rewards bold thinking, supports with the best tools and has a clear north star and strategic vision everyone can relate to. As a leader, I try my best to set such a tone and create these conditions.

Tunde

Senior Partner, McKinsey Tech

How would you describe the company’s work-life balance?

Maintaining a work-life balance is critical for our well-being. For me, that starts with leaders and a work environment that support flexibility. I was drawn to McKinsey’s culture of encouragement, support, and empowerment in caring for people. I have a very supportive and empathetic leader who inspires me to bring out my best at work.
