About the Role

Ethos is seeking an experienced and energetic Compliance Manager to join our growing insurance regulatory practice. This person will work proactively with internal teams to identify issues, and then develop and drive practical solutions. You will have a broad understanding of insurance operations and experience in a variety of compliance roles. Experience with review of advertising materials and other market regulation is preferred. You’ll be responsible for the marketing content review process, assist with internal audits, and provide support to insurance regulatory counsel as needed. Importantly, the candidate must be flexible, willing to work extended hours when necessary, be a team player, and think creatively

Basic Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor or 7+ years of relevant work experience
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently or with cross-functional teams, while adapting quickly to ambiguous and rapidly changing environments
  • Ability to provide a high volume of marketing content reviews under tight deadlines
  • Attention to detail
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess sound and practical business judgment
  • Analytical and research skills, including NILS or similar regulatory service

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of insurance regulatory, audit, or compliance experience
  • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to expand knowledge base
  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing business needs 
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Research of laws, regulations and other insurance department guidance for legal team
  • Review advertising, marketing, and other external and internal communications for compliance with industry regulations and business practices
  • Review and analyze content from third parties (e.g., outside distribution channels)
  • Assist in drafting and updating compliance policies and procedures
  • Be highly responsive and service-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to maintain strong working relationships with demanding internal clients
  • Provide entity licensing support
  • Assist with responding to any market conduct exams or data calls
