Responsible for supporting claims management through independent analysis, documentation, and implementation of initiatives to identify, understand, and better manage claims tracking, reporting, and handling. Creates models, statistical and other analyses, metric design, scorecard development and maintenance, project management, and written analyses. Works with leadership to ensure claims reporting and associated policies are aligned with WFM core values.

Sr Claims Analyst

Responsible for overseeing General Liability program globally or in designated regions, utilizing a working knowledge of General Liability claims management. Responsible for understanding claims processes and procedures and developing successful partnerships between team members, customers, third-party administrators (TPAs), internal business partners and external service providers. Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure business is compliant with state-specific liability and Whole Foods Market policies and guidelines. Acts as the point of notification and contact for our business partners and TPA regarding any incident or injury that could or has resulted in a General Liability claim. Serve as claims incident point and advocate for designated regions.

  • Ability to assess claim value and partner with TPA and legal counsel to support legal strategy.
  • Review files on all TPA escalations and provide guidance on strategy to move file to resolution.
  • Reviews and authorizes reserve and settlement authority to TPA.
  • Initial and ongoing point of contact to internal and external business partners for the duration of the claim.
  • Communicates with Regional Leadership to provide monthly updates on claims metrics.
  • Communicates and provides Regional Leadership with updates on high exposure/profile claims.
  • Point of contact for all written and telephonic correspondence regarding the claim.
  • Ensures that the TPA manages the claims diligently, partners with Legal (internal and external) to manage relevant claim details, implement plan for timely resolution of claims.
  • Participate in quarterly file reviews with TPA.
  • Participate in weekly sensitive file focused review with TPA.
  • Facilitate GL Best Practice trainings and provide updates to designated regions as needed.
  • Partners cross-functionally to proactively address any re-occurring root causes with internal and external partners to include Legal, Asset protection, Food Safety and Real Estate.
  • Successfully collaborates and works cross-functionally with store leadership, regional leadership, legal, asset protection, and food safety.
  • Communicates with customers to de-escalate and resolve claims as needed or requested.
  • Participate in Global CDASTL/Shift Leader trainings and follow up on pre/post work assignments.
  • Monitor Tender status and work with TPA and internal teams to implement plan to push tender acceptance.
  • Focused assignments/projects as assigned.
  • Reporting and Analytics
    • Monitor Global closure rates, reserves, food safety trends, tenders and other claims metrics and recommend opportunities for improvement. 
    • Create white papers for any trends that need review or partnership partnership with other internal business partners.
    • Partner with trending regions to provide support in the form of training and awareness.
    • Global point of contact for specified General Liability reporting and analytics.
  • Subrogation Management, Tracking and Reporting
    • Monitor and track Global subrogation internal and external.
    • Work with TPA on subrogation and provide any relevant information. 
    • Pursue subrogation in all regions when applicable and produce recovery results.
    • Produce monthly litigation exception report, monitor selected files and work with TPA and outside counsel to resolve the claims.
  • Customer Satisfaction Tracking and Reporting
    • Schedule, develop agenda, and lead targeted customer feedback focused assignments.
    • Track and monitor customer feedback.
    • Report to and partner with TPA to address any customer satisfaction concerns and create plan to address and improve.
  • May lead claims projects or steps within a broader project or have accountability for ongoing activities.

Requirements – IC5, Sr Claims Analyst

  • BA/BS degree, AIC or ARM classes preferred
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience in claims, risk management, customer service or related field
  • Proficient in MS Office suite and experience with risk management systems preferred
  • Excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Travel approximately 10%
