Senior Business Analyst Operations and Sourcing

About the role:
This is a remote position that requires travel to and work from supplier facilities. Holidays are peak times for our business and work may be required. This position requires travel to all US time zones. Candidates must live in the United States to be considered for this position.
The Sr. Business Analyst will be responsible for executing analytics, key reports, pro-formas/models to derive insights for the operations and sourcing team which supports the retail and e-commerce sales channels. This key role will tie together the world of operations, sourcing, merchandising, and purchasing to help drive improved margins and mix for the business. It will also require a cross functional effort to support and assist in interpreting results on various fronts such as merchandising, promotions, digital marketing investments, site metrics and developing strategic recommendations for the team and company to improve the profitable growth of the online business, as well as the Retail Business Model from a sourcing, operations, and product merchandising perspective.

Responsibilities
- Develop analytics on the business and business model to yield improvements. Includes sales analytics, profit margin by category, forecasting, digital marketing impacts on merchandising and purchasing decisions, supplier selection
- Set benchmarks and scorecards for each team/function (merchandising, suppliers, and operations)
- Perform tracking and analysis of product categories and SKUs for use in all operations and merchandising vendor meetings, and be an active participant, particularly as the business begins to optimize margin and profit.
- Support and partner with the Retail team to provide analytic insights that could inform strategic initiatives that aim to improve the retail model for online and B&M for new product categories and offerings
- Work cross-functionally with Finance, Planning, Merchandising, and Marketing when needed.
- Develop reports to help operators stay nimble and make strategy recommendations to inform major product and operational decisions.
- Create output that tells the story behind the data to non-technical team members so they can execute more effectively
- Develop strategy for priority initiatives and lead implementation to drive step change improvements in performance.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience required in business analytics, preferably in retail/E-Commerce finance
- BS/BA in quantitative business, math, statistics, business or related field
- Fundamental understanding of key financial / retail metrics
- Familiarity with insights and analytic tools and technique
- Familiarity with various data sources
- Analytical, quantitative and critical thinking skills
- Ability to collaborate and lead effective partner relationships
- Proficient with MS Excel, Access; experience with data mining and query tools, BI reporting tools or CRM tools
- Self-starter, strong drive, highly motivated to make change and bring about fact driven decisions
- Excellent written / verbal communication skills
- BA/BS with strong academic record
- Expert with Excel, SQL knowledge a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Experience with visualization (e.g. Looker, Tableau)
- Working knowledge of statistics a plus
- Positive, people-oriented, and energetic attitude
- Highly motivated self-starter.
