The Opportunity

The Senior Analyst is responsible for executing best-practice Analytical Tool (e.g. Excel, SAS, SQL, Python, Power BI, Access) risk testing activities to ensure QATs across Ally are conceptually sound relative to their intended use, executing the appropriate controls, and performing appropriately. Furthermore, the Senior Analyst will be relied upon for coaching and developing analysts' banking and risk acumen, process improvement, issue management QA activities, and contributing to the advancement of Qualified Analytical Tools within Ally.

The Work Itself

  • Validate the performance and controls of Qualified Analytical Tools (e.g. spreadsheets, databases, dashboards, code scripts) across Ally
  • Risk assessments will include control assessments, design reviews, risk ranking analyses, and conceptual soundness challenges
  • Document and present findings to Business Line and MRM leaders along with remediation recommendations
  • Develop and maintain effective partnerships with participants / stakeholders within Ally's model risk management community
  • Assist Director with issue management (e.g. QA activities, monitoring & tracking, issue remediation evaluation)
  • Provide thought leadership to advance QAT risk management through presentations, workshops, demonstrations, documentation, and automation



The Skills You Bring

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, statistics, risk management, business, data management, computer science/data analytics, or any related field is required
  • A Master's degree in finance, economics, statistics, or related field is preferred
  • Relevant certifications are preferred (e.g. CFA, FRM, CRCM)


Experience

  • 4-7 years in the banking industry / financial services; Risk assessment (analytical/control/SOX/data testing) experience required
  • 2-4 years in a testing / Quality Assurance / Quality Control type role is highly desired
  • 2-4 years in a risk management function is highly desired


Technical Competencies

  • Familiarity with any of the following: market/liquidity risk, credit risk, operational risk, and stress testing methodologies / quantitative analytics
  • Ability to assess the conceptual design and data controls, theoretical underpinnings and assumptions, QAT Owner's calculation/methodology, and QAT execution
  • Demonstrated analytical approach to complex processes
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel is required
  • Intermediate knowledge of SAS, SQL, Python, Power BI is required
  • Basic knowledge of R and Access is highly desired

  • Adept at working in a multi-faceted organization
  • Proven strong technical writing and verbal communication skills are required
  • Internally motivated to drive process improvement
  • Must be a critical thinker that can operate without all information present at one time
  • Must be receptive to feedback
  • Superior time management skills are required
