Our Analytical Technologies team within Advanced Research and Development group is looking for an Advanced Analytical Scientist to drive analytical support for the filtration development for various Donaldson business units. The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of scientists/engineers to define testing requirements, develop analytical methods, perform testing, process and interpret data, and present results to expedite product and technology development. The candidate will participate in R&D projects, failure analysis, contaminant identification and competitive analysis in the Corporate Technology chemistry laboratory. Daily responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with scientists and engineers to plan experimental design to solve challenging analytical problems in filtration product development .
- Execute analytical testing, analyze and interpret data, and authors clearly articulated reports and data presentations.
- Develop novel analytical methods using a wide range analytical instrumentation.
- Execute routine and non-routine filter and material testing by chromatography and spectroscopy techniques (HPLC, LCMS, GCMS, FTIR, UV-Vis, etc.).
- Participate in problem solving and provide recommendation to project team based on analytical data.
- Demonstrate innovation and provide value to customers in a technology driven company.
- Collaborate with team chemists to move projects forward. Manage and prioritize multiple projects at once with minimal directions.
- Perform other assignments (calibration and maintenance, EHS initiatives etc.) as needed.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or other related fields.
- 3+ years of relevant industrial experience or a master's degree with relevant experience.
- Experience in chromatography and spectroscopy techniques (HPLC, LCMS, GCMS, FTIR, UV-Vis, etc.).
- Ability to perform all stages of chemical and materials analysis including sample preparation, data collection, data analysis, reporting, presentation, and troubleshooting.
- Strong problem-solving skills, and ability to work in a group or independently
- Excellent organizational skills and communication skills and ability to embrace changes with minimal directions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or other related fields.
- 2+ years hands-on chromatography and spectroscopy experience (e.g., HPLC, LCMS, GCMS, FTIR, UV-Vis, etc.).
- General filtration knowledge/experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with membrane technology and operating principles is a plus.
