About the role:
As a Risk Analyst, you'll be a member of the PayFac Credit/Risk Team performing transaction monitoring activities that involves working alerts, researching merchant behavior, and liaising with the respective relationship managers to resolve identified issues.
About the team:
The Payment Facilitator Credit/Risk Team works with entities such as, financial institutions, payment facilitators, payment networks, legal counsel and law enforcement in the implementation of policies and processes for sub-merchant fraud prevention, detection, avoidance, sponsorship compliance requirements, adherence to payment network and federal regulations to deter and mitigate potential monetary losses to FIS and clients.
What you will be doing:

  • Daily monitoring of sub-merchant transactional and chargeback activity data via multiple internal and external platforms to detect fraudulent activity and take appropriate action to reduce financial loss exposure to FIS and clients.
  • Ensures strategic objectives of risk management program are met including execution of risk assessment activities, coordination of risk response along with program testing and validation.
  • Reviews significant events and advises line of business owners of action steps required to prevent future recurrence.
  • Implement fraud detection policies and techniques.
  • Participates in projects designed to mitigate risks including generating action plans for issues/gaps.
  • Manage funding tools to divert and secure funds for potential future losses.
  • Conduct research to identify possible threats and minimize exposure to financial loss.
  • Implement new tools and processes to become more proactive and effective in risk appreciation and treatment.
  • Develop central risk scenarios and prepares reports of risk analysis progress and results including information on trends and risk factors.
  • Reviews transactions, contracts, or other agreements to ensure conformity with legal and underwriting approval requirements.
  • Fact-gathering liaison with law enforcement authorities.
  • Serves as a source of expert testimony in the event of prosecution.
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of regulatory requirements.
  • Other related duties assigned as needed.


What you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
  • Demonstrated analytical, organizational, interpersonal, team-building, problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of the fraud discipline, its principles, processes, procedures and trends of fraud and fraud prevention.
  • Broad understanding of active initiatives and function of assigned work team, department, and company overall.
  • Broad knowledge of legal and underwriting approval requirements.
  • Broad knowledge of federal and state regulations and laws regarding fraud-related issues.
  • Broad knowledge of FIS fraud products and service offerings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with law enforcement professionals and to serve as an expert witness.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain confidentiality and work both independently and in a team environment.

  • Merchant acquiring Credit/Risk experience
  • Experience with Credit/Risk oversight of Payment Facilitator relationships
