Our payments product is both improving and creating new ways for our customers to collect payments. We seamlessly combine conversational, text-based commerce with in-store hardware to make it as easy as possible for our merchants to get paid. The Podium Payments Risk Management team provides world-class fraud protection that keeps pace with our break-neck speed of growth.   

Our ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, a genuine curiosity about fraud and risk, and is highly organized.  As a Payments & Fintech Risk Analyst, you will support the payments risk framework and take it to the next level as we grow.  You will work closely with payments leaders in both product, design, and development as well as other teams across the organization.  You will also identify, mitigate, and respond to financial, legal, and reputation risks while ensuring clear communication with all stakeholders.  

In this role you will:

  • Build analytical tools and dashboards to quantify the impact of risk initiatives and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Assess payments & fintech products and recommend controls commensurate with the related risks
  • Support the design and implementation of risk operations processes and workflows
  • Identify emerging fraud trends and contribute to the design of new fraud controls
  • Build scalable solutions for risk operation bottlenecks

What you should have:

  • 2-3 years of experience in data analytics 
  • Ability to think creatively and deeply about sensitive, complex problems
  • Effective interpersonal skills and an ability to to communicate across teams of varying disciplines
  • Strong skills with querying languages and statistical analysis, especially SQL
  • Proficiency in data visualization fundamentals as well as experience with data visualization tools such as: Teradata, Aster, Hadoop, Tableau, Raw Charts, Qlik, PowerBI, Domo etc.
  • Strong competence in developing persuasive presentations and documentation using tools like: Google Documents, MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal skills

What we hope you have:

  • Fraud experience within the Banking, Capital Markets or Insurance industries, a Law Enforcement agency, or with a Payment Processor (e.g., Payments Fraud, Account Takeover, Credit Card Fraud, Claims Fraud, Deposit Fraud, Employee Fraud, Consumer Fraud, Loyalty Fraud etc.)
  • Scripting experience with Python/R
  • Demonstrated track record of taking initiative as well as a sensitivity to the diverse perspectives of stakeholders and working with them to resolve differences
  • The capability to calmly handle constant change and ambiguity
  • Past examples of providing clarity to complex issues and synthesizing large amounts of information into clear, actionable takeaways
