Resource Management Business Analyst

Description

JOB SUMMARY

Provide day-to-day Leadership Support, Strategy Implementation, and Business Unit/Project Support for the Resource Management team to ensure that positive operational and organizational goals are achieved.

This is achieved by strengthening the internal business processes, providing timely data and information to support business decisions, effectively supporting growth initiatives and process improvements, and providing individualized support for the various business lines. This includes direct support of the Resource Management organization.

Functional Expertise:

  • Strategic Reporting and Analysis, Advisor to the Management Team, Business Unit Compliance and Oversight.
  • Executive Management Presentations, Business Unit Organizational Support, Customer Services, Strategy Plan Implementation and Administration, and Oversee/Lead Risk Mitigation activities.
  • Provide input and support in creating performance improvement analytics, supply and demand projections, departmental workforce planning processes, dashboards, and goals monitoring.

Business Acumen:

  • This position will provide the strategic reporting, analysis, and oversite for Regulated Business Lines in Resource Management organizations.
  • Develop and maintain strategic reporting and analysis in support of Resource Management.
  • Develop presentations as needed for various projects and requests in support of Resource Management.
  • Facilitate monthly project meetings, including presentation materials, as necessary.
  • Support/lead special projects and serve on various committees as requested.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with Project Managers, Business Operations, various leadership team members, support functions, and other key stakeholders in support of the Resource Management organization

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Certifications/Licenses:

Required:

  • BA/BS degree in business, finance, economics, or similar field/equivalent work experience.

Related Work Experience:

Required:

  • 3-5 years combined experience with the utilities or other related experience.
  • 2-4 years' experience analyzing data and process improvement.
  • 4 plus years of experience in project cost tracking.
  • Knowledge of business processes and procedures, including exception processing.
  • Knowledge of business-related systems (i.e., AR, Sentinel, CC&B).

Preferred:

  • 4-6 years analyzing operational data and business processes, modeling, or forecasting.
  • Demonstrated experience of analysis and understanding of natural gas industry.
  • Advanced knowledge of business processes and procedures, including exception processing.
  • Advanced knowledge of business-related systems (i.e. CC&B).
  • Ability to run queries using SQL.
  • Previous experience working with multiple departments within Field Operations, Call Centers, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, or Sales.
  • Strong understanding of Southern Company Gas key performance indicator and metrics.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
