Job Description We are seeking a Python Analytics Developer with outstanding Python knowledge to help the Securities Services business identify opportunities to improve efficiency, increase revenue, optimize the operating model and risk framework and create value added data driven Products for our Clients.
This is a software engineering role. The successful candidate will work closely with the Quantitative Research team, Product Development and Product Business users to develop applications within our Python-based Analytics platform (Athena). They will also assist with the development of web-based end-user tools in addition to enhancing the Big Data platform to support the development of analytics and operational solutions.
This is a hands-on role requiring the design and development of applications. The successful candidate will also help formulate the analytics strategy and ensure cross-application data & logic consistency and optimization. They will write code to enrich and apply statistical analysis to data sets to produce output that will help drive the business forward. Keen interest in statistical analysis and Machine Learning would be advantageous, as would good knowledge of the Custody Services business.
Requirements:
Essential

• Excellent Python knowledge with a strong track record of delivering with impact
• Experience in Python development including Web application frameworks such as Flask, Bottle and Tornado
• Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML5 and core frameworks such as React.js
• Experience in developing user interfaces and good visualization skills
• Strong database skills with a thorough understanding of relational database and understanding of Object Oriented databases
• Knowledge of open source solutions and trending technologies
• Well Grounded in Object Oriented Programming and Design Patterns
• Working knowledge of REST web services
• Some experience with system profiling and performance tuning
• Familiarity with the SDLC/Agile
• Excellent communication skills with the confidence to converse directly with business stakeholders
• An ability to be self-sufficient and proactive whilst working in a broader team
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

Desirable:

• Strong understanding of web standards, security, accessibility, browser compatibility
• Experience in developing Secure Web applications, i.e. prevent Cross-site scripting, session hijacking etc.
• Any experience with the Hadoop stack (HDFS, HBase, Phoenix, Hive, Pig) advantageous
• Working knowledge of Java
• Experience in a Business Intelligence tool e.g. QlikSense & Tableau
• Operating Systems: Proficient at UNIX Solaris/Linux and Microsoft Windows). UNIX Shell Scripting
• Working knowledge of distributed system design concepts
• Familiarity with High Availability Design Concepts: Clustering and Failover
