We are seeking an experienced software and technology Product Data Analyst. The Product Data Analyst collects and analyzes customer and product data to produce actionable insights that help define, prioritize and measure the customer impact of our product and ongoing product development. The outputs of this work will help the Cloud Security Practice become more “data fueled,” supporting numerous teams including Product Management, UX Design, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Success. This position will help define requirements for improved telemetry and instrumentation to gather data and turn it into valuable information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with product management, UX, engineering, customer advocates, services teams, and others to identify product + customer centric KPI's (Key Performance Indicators) based on quantitative data gathered and derived insights.

  • Leverage your skills to generate data fueled proposals and future roadmap considerations, backed by data and a high probability of success.

  • Communicate product, customer, and user insights both verbally and in written form in a storytelling format that engages executive management and other teams with compelling, clear, and specific data-informed recommendations.

  • Own, manage, and recommend analytic tooling that is modern, scalable, and conforms to personal and customer privacy.

  • Analyze a variety of market, product, customer and user data for useful and impactful insights to feed both a regular baseline view of customer utilization and value, as well as ad hoc use cases as they arise.

  • Have a thirst for knowledge and endless curiosity about learning everything about the cloud security business, our customers, and competitors.

  • Bring a fun and positive attitude to the team!

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Economics, or other quantitative field. Alternatively, applicable experience in the field.

  • 2-5 years of experience in a quantitative analytics role (or similar), preferably in a high-growth technology market, working across multiple stakeholders, teams, or businesses.

  • Experience with business to business software products preferably targeting enterprise IT and security.

  • Experience with well established analytic tools such as Google Analytics, FullStory, Amplitude, Appcues, Pendo, Gainsight, Heap, and/or other product data analytic tools.

  • Demonstrable critical thinking and methodical skills, including the ability and confidence to make conclusions and recommendations from data.

  • Proactive and exceptional communication skills (writing and verbal) with a track record of setting and executing on clear, realistic deliverable timelines.

  • Ad hoc analysis with spreadsheet tools (Excel, gSheets, SmartSheet, etc.).

  • Experience building easily digestible data visualizations, dashboards, and reports.

  • Team player with the ability to genuinely engage with stakeholders at all levels from developers and security professionals to technology mentors and customer executives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with one or more leading public cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

  • Advanced experience querying data (SQL).

  • Experience with data modeling in BI tools (e.g. Snowflake, Looker, Tableau, Domo, Talend, etc.).

  • 3+ years working in an agile product development organization building best in class, mission critical enterprise solutions

An Insider's view of Rapid7

What does your typical day look like?

For the majority of the day it’s a mix of weekly check-ins with various teams, project updates, and the occasional brainstorm.

When I’m not in meetings I’ve got headphones in while planning, writing, or designing — at my desk or perched somewhere around the office.
