Job Description

We are looking for a Process Analyst (Data) to join our dynamic, collaborative, and agile Operational Excellence team, which uses Lean Six Sigma methodology to improve processes related to the needs of Journal Editors and academic societies.

Reporting to the Operational Excellence Director, this expert role will work across the Operational Excellence Team using process improvement and data analysis techniques to drive process and quality control. This will contribute to the day-to-day effectiveness of process delivery and process improvements (including kaizen) with measurable outcomes. 

What you will do in the role:

  • Define and develop measures of performance for the Operational Excellence team’s journal management processes.
  • Monitor and measure team and journal management process performance by gathering and presenting relevant data and producing statistical reports.
  • Generate actionable insights into areas of weakness or waste that Process Experts and other stakeholders can apply to make processes more effective. 
  • Set up and maintain quality controls and documentation procedures across the team, including Control Plans and defect tracking mechanisms, to inform day-to-day process management and kaizen activity led by Process Experts. 
  • Develop knowledge and expertise on key systems used (e.g. Wrike, DocuSign, Salesforce), providing coaching and support to the team and wider department as required. 
  • Support the capture of information and data including Voice of the Customer data from Editors and Societies and present this using appropriate tools. 
  • Participate in process improvement Kaizens with the team to improve workflows, processes, and policies. 
  • Effectively manage stakeholder relationships, including proactive communication and feedback loops.
  • Manage own work to minimise obstacles, using appropriate routes of escalation to resolve conflicts or unblock issues. 
  • Build and maintain up to date knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and other relevant improvement methodologies as required to support the team and reach strategic goals. 

Qualifications

What we would love you to bring

  • Strong Excel skills and solid understanding of data technologies and tools to support the DMAIC cycle
  • Demonstrated knowledge of working with operational teams to define metrics
  • Demonstrated experience of data analysis and reporting
  • Demonstrated experience of communicating data insights to diverse stakeholders
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies including Lean Six Sigma
  • Experience of working with task management software (e.g. Wrike) 
  • Experience of working with query management tools (e.g. Salesforce)
  • Understanding of academic publishing processes and systems
  • Experience of training others on systems and tools
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills – ability to multitask
  • Confident self-starter
  • Good communication and influencing skills
  • Collaborative approach to analysis and problem solving
