Job Title: Principal-Software Dev Engineer Test
Job Location: Tampa, FL. , Cary, NC, New York, NY or Whippany, NJ (remote but must be within a commutable distance to one of our offices)
Role Proposition
Within Global Technology and Operations (GTO), the Quality Center of Excellence (CoE) is charged with establishing enterprise test standards, processes, and tooling, driving increased levels of automation "in sprint" and within regression suites, adopting a "shift left" test approach and establishing quality metrics to drive continuous improvement. The Quality CoE within the Technology Transformation team is a centralized group of SMEs for testing practice, test automation, test data management and advisory for the enterprise. This role will provide technical expertise and thought leadership for our Agile Delivery Model (ADM) teams in the Enterprise. As a Principal - Software Dev Engineer Test, you will be a subject matter expert within the Quality CoE and you will guide the partnership with employees and vendors across test application and architecture. You are passionate about using data to solve problems. The focus of this role is to provide technical and thought leadership, consulting, and advisory support to ADM teams for non-functional testing with a concentration on Test Data Management. Ensure best practices, draw from lessons learned for continuous improvement of the practice, and evaluate tools and techniques to increase effectiveness of our testing processes driving higher levels of quality delivery. You will help to build and follow a multi-year roadmap in the areas listed below:

  • DevOps and Agile testing processes and practices
  • Testing Architectural analysis and recommendations
  • Testing Tools Evaluation


Key Responsibilities:

  • Work within the Quality CoE to develop test data processes, best practices, and guard rails with an emphasis on agile delivery and asset reuse
  • Lead the development and delivery of best practices and processes for Test Data Management services for software changes of varying complexity supporting ADM teams
  • Provides consulting services to product teams on implementation of test data management methodologies, tools, and techniques
  • Utilize expertise of modern software testing practices that include successful agile processes
  • Demonstrate expertise in areas of focus to include - test data management, big data/analytics, test automation, service virtualization, digital/mobile testing, test management, performance, and security
  • Liaise across the organization to develop test data frameworks
  • Collaborate with DevOps colleagues to setup test automation and test data through Continuous Integration Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Develop a broad understanding of the business functions and applications to advise on efficient ways to test or simulate testing of end-to-end functions
  • Follow a results-oriented model and have a high degree of accountability, commitment, and responsibility to quality and successful delivery of services
  • Works with ADM teams to determine how to build and enhance applications to maximize testability and ensure application stability (technical and strategic)


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
  • 8+ years hands on experience in software engineering, test data management delivery or quality engineering/testing
  • Extensive Experience with database technologies, integration, and distributed data architectures
  • Strong background with data management tools like Informatica, Broadcom (CA) Test Data Manager (TDM), GenRocket, Optim, Delphix, etc.
  • Advanced skills with Bamboo, Jira, qTest/Tosca, Selenium, TestNG, Soap UI, Perfecto, Java, JavaScript, UCD, Jenkins, JMeter
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in dealing with data analytics and management concepts such as:
    • Data discovery/profiling
    • Data quality and cleaning
    • Data provisioning, deployment, and generation
    • Operationalizing data pipelines - from requests intake, processing, reserving, delivery, and restoration of data
    • Processing scaled real time data
    • Producing intelligent data sets in lower-level environments - synthetic/manufactured data
    • Desensitize confidential information with masking/obfuscation techniques
  • Depth with CI/CD concepts integrating test automation/test data into pipelines
  • Skills with functional, non-functional testing including test automation delivery, test data and environment setup is essential.
  • Experience with tool evaluations and integrations to support test activities.
  • Working experience with Performance and Load testing tools and practices


Preferred:

  • Hands-on experience with Service Virtualization using open source or commercial tools
  • Strong knowledge of Big Data applications testing methodologies, process, and tools
  • SAFe, ISTQB, CAST certifications
  • Bi-Lingual speaking (English/Spanish)

The wage range for applicants for this position is $140,000-175,000. This role is also eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. MetLife offers a comprehensive benefits program, including healthcare benefits, life insurance, retirement benefits, parental leave, legal plan services and paid time off.
