The Data Scientist will be responsible for data curation within the IT Advanced Analytics team. This includes working with business partners to identify source-of-truth data within the Company, ensuring data access in an optimal way for team members, and performing exploratory data analysis.

The Work Itself

• Work closely with lines of business to understand their statistical modeling/prediction needs, and identity the corresponding input data elements.
• Focus on applying data mining and machine learning techniques , and build high quality prediction systems integrated with Ally's internal and external products.
• Investigate new data extraction techniques and uses of both batch and streaming data on Ally's big data platforms.
• Collaborate with technology partners like Architecture, Information protection and Risk Management, Platform to build efficient data pipelines for machine learning projects.
• Own the Data Life cycle management process within the team.
• This is not a Database Administrator role. However, DBA experience is a plus.

The Skills You Bring

• 5+ years of experience and degree (Masters preferred) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar field of study.
• Experience working with real time data and deploying statistical models in a real time scoring environment.
• Ability to analyze and synthesize complex data into clear action-oriented recommendations for the business.
• Comfort level with ambiguity and ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
• Ability to communicate analytical insights clearly and concisely to individuals from across the organization.
• Certification in AWS, SAS, Snowflake, Oracle preferred.
• Experience in Data extraction/manipulation using Python/R programming languages.
• Experience in extracting data efficiently using SQL from multiple database systems (on-premise and cloud bases systems).
• Experience in a data engineer role - must be proficient in ETL, systems integration, and data masking related technologies.
• Experience in the financial industry is a plus.
