The Opportunity

Ally is looking to hire a Senior level Cloud data architect. The Cloud Architect is responsible for architecting developing and maintaining the Enterprise Data Platform including a Serverless Data Lake, Cloud Data Warehouse and core data/application pipelines. You will play a vital role in designing and developing our next generation data platform. You will serve as the highest-level technical application and/or business architecture expert for software development / infrastructure teams. Acts as SME for project teams in the planning, design, and delivery of technology solutions. In application architecture, designs the inter-system/application structures, advises teams of Ally standard requirements, security standards, methodology and processes. In business architecture: defines cross-business function processes, advises teams of consistent processes and common business functions. Drives short- and long-term architecture strategy for the overall technology project portfolio for key business segments. Participates in proof of concepts to assist in defining technology direction and process improvement to enable business strategy. Communicates and validates program architecture with technical leadership, program management, business line leadership, and executive level stakeholders.

The Work Itself

• Develop and drive the short- and long-term architecture strategy and portfolio needs for key business segments.
• Ensures that all relevant project teams follow a common set of principles and patterns and utilize a standard set of technology frameworks and libraries. Applies architecture best practices that helps increase execution velocity.
• Provides leadership across the architecture community to ensure solutions are built in alignment with platform principles and standards.
• Develops architectures that are inherently secure, robust, scalable, modular, API-centric and global.
• Drives the architecture for key cross team / cross product development projects (via architecture/design documents and developing code key modules).
• Defines deployment topology by working with peers across the technology organization.
• Optimizes use of Ally's Platform and technologies.
• Consult with Business to understand future requirements and implications for architecture
• Identify architecture solution alternatives, driving business requirements, and availability of new technologies
• Identify emerging technologies and tools to support architecture(s) and determine architectural roadmaps
• Encourage early adoption of tools and architecture across the organization
• Review solutions and projects to ensure they are consistent with best practices in data and analytics
• Work with other Data Science and Analytics leads to manage the Data Science and Analytics priorities

The Skills You Bring

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field (Computer Science, Business Administration or similar) or equivalent experience.
• 5 or more years of IT and business/industry work experience in the Financial services industry developing and executing strategic plans and/or project portfolios
• Ability to guide, mentor, and coach technical teams
• Expert knowledge of standards in IT architecture and infrastructure
• Ability to develop enterprise guidelines and standards
• Ability to lead multiple projects under moving deadlines
• Works effectively with technical and non-technical staff. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in the Development of Data Strategy and associated policies
• Experience with Hadoop and NO SQL databases.
• Proven knowledge of successful design, architecture and development using Hadoop with large data volumes and AWS Cloud technologies.
• Experience with AWS Serverless technologies including Athena, S3, Kinesis, LAMBDA, and GLUE.
• Experience with Snowflake, Redshift or other MPP databases
• Experience with One or more data Integration Technologies (Nifi, Pentaho, Talend, Informatica, etc.
• Continuous delivery and Dev Ops experience - infrastructure automation, monitoring, logging, auditing and security implementation and practices.
• Collaborate with Agile teams to recommend the right architectures with high quality and software best practices
• Develops tools and processes to enable automated deployment and monitoring of cloud infrastructure and applications.
• Expertise in R, Python and predictive analytics.
• Integration / Messaging platforms: SNS, SQS, Active MQ, Apache Kafka, Lambda, Kinesis etc.
• Containers: Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Ansible, Nexus, Software defined networking.
• DevOps/DevSecOps: Bitbucket, Jenkins, Gitlab
