Overview
The Analyst III will support Portfolio Strategy managers in analyzing and reporting portfolio performance, effectiveness of loss mitigation strategies, portfolio revenue and loss drivers, and development of new strategies. This role requires the application of financial concepts and Portfolio Strategy models in determining best execution for PennyMac's loan portfolio.
Job Description

  • Apply concepts of net present value, internal rate of return, and return on equity to analyze revenue opportunities for non-performing mortgages and mortgage servicing rights (MSRs).
  • Maintain and enhance existing pricing models for non-performing mortgages. Responsible for independently running models to determine best execution on a loan-level basis.
  • Provide portfolio oversight by working independently to analyze trends within the whole loan portfolio and identify major revenue and loss drivers.
  • Prepare recurring and non-recurring reporting for the mortgage loan portfolio. Develop new and ad-hoc reports as necessary to assist with portfolio management.
  • Become a subject matter expert in a particular loss-mitigation area (for example, loan modifications for residential mortgage servicing). Based on this, suggest enhancements tomexisting strategies.
  • Support Operations groups regarding guideline implementation, vendor management, operational effectiveness, and ad-hoc reporting.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
  • Demonstrate behaviors which are aligned with the organization's desired culture and values.

Ideal Candidate will have the following:

  • Experience with MS VB, SQL, data warehouse programming, or statistical tools such as SAS is a plus.
  • Must possess the ability to work collaboratively with various departments.
  • Must be highly proficient in Excel and Word
  • Must be a team player with strong attention to detail and able to work independently
  • Proven track record at delivering timely and accurate information in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, mathematical skills and sound judgment
  • Financial Services and, if possible, mortgage industry experience preferred
  • Strong business acumen and ability to interface with executive management
