OVERVIEW
ABOUT THE ROLE - We are hiring Machine Learning engineers to train and productionize algorithms for recommending products that the customer is interested in purchasing. We utilize innovative techniques, including modeling customers’ long-term interests, collaborative filtering, and session context. These allow us to make personalized and contextual recommendations that are relevant to each customer and improve the customer’s experience by making shopping more efficient and by surfacing novel items of interest.

ABOUT THE JOB
- This is an individual contributor role where you will be responsible for driving ranking problems end-to-end, including scoping the problem with the product, creating and evaluating ranking metrics, proposing solutions, training models, and productionizing the model in conjunction with Machine Learning Infrastructure and Product Engineering teams.
- You will use your machine learning knowledge and current recommender system techniques to iterate and continually improve ranking metrics.
- You will create the roadmap for the ranking problems you work on, and prioritize the work that best aligns with customer impact and business objectives.
- You will use strong engineering and data science skills to debug data, to debug systems, and to build scalable approaches that tackle multiple ranking use cases.
- You will be a thought leader in your field, and mentor junior engineers on the team.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A graduate degree in artificial intelligence, machine learning or equivalent self-study and experience
- Strong communication skills, and can collaborate with diverse multi-functional partners across all levels
- Practical experience training classification and/or learning to rank models
- Experience training deep neural networks (DNN) and have knowledge of techniques such as word2vec, BERT, RNN/LSTM/GRU
- Strong programming skills, and experience in Python, data manipulation (SQL, Spark, Pandas), and popular machine learning tools (scikit-learn, XGBoost, Keras/Tensorflow) or equivalent experience
