As a Senior Analyst, you will work on project teams focused on developing and delivering reserve studies, pricing/funding analyses and captive consulting activities for our healthcare and corporate clients. You will be responsible for data preparation as well as producing and analyzing initial results. You will work closely with a variety of consultants and project managers who will help you increase your knowledge and sharpen your actuarial skills - all while providing a blend of client facing skills as well.

The Role

The Business

The Risk and Analytics Corporate Practice includes over 100 actuarial professionals focused on large market, U.S. clients. Our primary services include reserving and funding for retained losses, captive feasibility, retention optimization, and cost allocation models. We also offer actuarial analysis of loyalty programs for hospitality, airlines and financial institutions and continue to develop predictive analytics for our clients.

As a Senior Analyst, you will contribute to varied and interesting projects such as:

  • Self-Insurance and Captives - Pricing/funding analyses, valuation of liabilities, captive feasibility, and risk retention optimization
  • Predictive Modeling - Development and application of advanced predictive modeling techniques to help clients improve loss experience and enhance overall business performance
  • Analysis of Loyalty rewards programs for various industries


We are looking for a motivated, independent learner, looking to deliver exceptional performance in the following performance areas:

Excellence

  • Assist with the reserving, pricing and capital management activities on client team(s)
  • Seek and participate in key learning and development opportunities
  • Maintain steady progress through exams
  • Prepare the first draft of reports for review by the consultant on the client team(s)


People

  • Build strong relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels


Clients

Deliver work in accordance to project deadlines. Experienced colleagues will often begin to serve as the project manager on some projects which includes:

  • Creating project plans
  • Monitoring progress to deadlines and budget
  • Increased client interaction
  • Scheduling and managing regular status meeting calls
  • Ensuring appropriate and effective communication among team members and the client
  • Delivery of projects which meet or exceed client expectations
  • Increase efficiency within client teams by identifying ways to improve processes


Financial

  • Meet chargeable hours targets
  • Contribute to sales and marketing efforts by drafting proposals and responding to RFPs



The Requirements

  • Actuarial exam progress toward ACAS and/or FCAS credentials is highly encouraged
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel and Access
  • Programing skills such as VBA, R or Python and proficient knowledge of manipulating databases like SQL would be an advantage
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to respond to all communications effectively and in a timely manner
  • Ability to ask the right questions and seek help where appropriate
  • Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues; strong client service orientation
  • Interest and ability to think beyond the task at hand and understand how one's work fits into the broader landscape
  • Strong analytical and integrative skills including ability to draw conclusions and identify trends from data in a logical, systematic way
  • Ability to work both independently and on client teams and enjoy a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelors' Degree required
