Headway is building a new mental healthcare system that everyone can access.

1 in 4 people in the US have a treatable mental health condition, but the vast majority do not get the care they need. The primary reason is cost: the majority of therapists do not accept insurance, meaning paying for therapy is prohibitively expensive for prospective patients. That’s why Headway is building the first software-enabled network of therapists who accept health insurance, making it easy for therapists to grow their practices, and possible for patients to find quality care they can afford.

We launched in April of 2019 and are now powering 100,000+ appointments per month. To scale our vision, we’ve raised over $100 million in funding from a16z, Thrive, Accel, and Google Ventures.

Join us, and make an impact.

As a member of the Credentialing team, you will play an integral role in helping our network of therapists accept insurance and begin offering sessions to clients. In the Operations Analyst role, you will own the credentialing process from start to finish, build systems to improve the quality and efficiency of our current processes, and manage the iteration of these processes across new markets.

You will face ambiguous problems and be responsible for advancing our pipeline of therapists. You will collaborate with the rest of the business operations team and engineering teams to drive efficiency and develop solutions. You’ll also work closely with our therapists and insurance partners.

You'll be a great fit if…

  • You have 1+ years experience in operations, credentialing, or provider relations.
  • You have experience managing and driving projects forward independently. You’re process driven, extremely detail oriented and highly organized.
  • You’re highly adaptable. You can quickly change direction to execute different functions and responsibilities with ease.
  • You enjoy challenges and tackle them thoughtfully and analytically.
  • You want to learn and grow. You view this role as an opportunity to learn from a talented team and are excited to take on more responsibility at Headway over time.
  • You’re an excellent communicator.
  • You are passionate about increasing access to mental health.

We believe a team's strength is in its people, and we cannot achieve this mission without a team that reflects the diversity of this problem - across race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and experience.

Headway employees work remotely across the US, with the option to work from our NYC HQ.

An Insider's view of Headway

What's something quirky about your company?

We're turning the unglamorous health insurance industry into an exciting one. This team is extremely talented and passionate, striving to change the status quo and do good, all while having tons of fun. We found a winning formula at Headway: the smartest people + a familial vibe + a beautiful mission!

Business Operations

How do you collaborate with other teams in the company?

I'm working on a project with our Growth and Operations teams, and it's been refreshing to hear each team's priorities/concerns when it comes to the product. It's important for engineers to understand how the things they build affect larger systems! So I really value working with teammates who speak to patients and healthcare providers every day.

April

Software Engineer

What makes someone successful on your team?

Headway is extremely driven by our cultural principles, one being: 'Act like a Headway owner before a functional owner.' Success at Headway means prioritizing the success of our mission and acting selflessly to contribute to Headway’s goals.

Molly

Business Development

What projects are you most excited about?

As our company has grown and evolved, so have the ways in which we need to protect the sensitive data that flows through our applications. I’ve recently moved to our Privacy Platforms team to help lead the charge around a revised Authentication and Authorization framework to both meet the needs of our users today and be extensible enough to satisfy
