Company Description

Open Access and Open Research are the concepts of greater openness in relation to scholarly outputs, enabling research to be read, shared and built on more easily and more widely. The growth in OA agreements means we are now looking for a motivated and commercially minded Open Research Executive to work closely with our consortia, institution and funder partners on their open access and open research agreements, to ensure long-term sustainability and revenue growth.

This exciting opportunity is based in Taylor & Francis’ Commercial team, will primarily focus on account management of the existing global programme of transformative agreements, but the role will also work with clients of the F1000Research platform, an innovative open research platform offering a rapid and transparent approach to the publication of scholarly work. Strong relationship building and close collaboration with our Publishing and Marketing teams will be critical to the success of this role.

Whilst it would be beneficial, you do not need to have a background or prior work experience in Open Access or Open Research. We are however looking for someone who has a demonstrable interest in and passion in this field. Job Description

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting on account management activity across transformative agreement customers and F1000Research Gateway and Platform customers;
  • Leading account management of specific customer accounts, creating account management plans in close collaboration with sales managers to drive revenue growth and upselling across a range of Taylor & Francis products;
  • Monitoring KPIs such as submissions and article revenue from each account, to proactively create and deliver plans for article growth in close collaboration with Author Marketing and the Publishing team;
  • Communicating regularly with Consortia and member institutions through a variety of outreach activities, including webinars, institutional member emails and check in calls;
  • Using a mix of data-driven tactics and strong working relationships to demonstrate the value of OA agreements to customers and contribute to successful renewals
  • Identifying gaps and opportunities for cross channel upselling across a range of Taylor & Francis products;
  • Providing customer feedback and ideas for workflow optimisation to the Sales Operations Team
  •  Providing regular reporting to clients and internal stakeholders including on account progress and research impact;
  • Contributing to growing understanding of our open research programme across the business alongside the Open Access Editorial teams

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  • A proven commercial background in account management or business development
  • A track record of building successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve results
  •  Excellent communication skills and resilience to pursue negotiations 
  • Results-driven with a self-starter attitude to achieving success. 
  • Skills in gathering, analysing and interpreting data to provide actionable insights
  • An ability to manage competing priorities and adaptability to a fast-paced environment
  • Skills in research and market analysis to identify upselling opportunities
  • A proactive and creative approach to building on successes and solving problems

Additional Information

What we offer in return:

  • £30,000-£33,000 salary range, plus bonus
