As a Solution Engineer (SE) on our One Analytics High-Tech Strategic team, you will become a de facto specialist in Salesforce's complete analytic solution including both Tableau and Tableau CRM products. You'll educate our customers on how to leverage and integrate these products for use cases both inside and outside of the Salesforce platform. You'll communicate these use-cases, customer-specific "Point of Views," features, capabilities, and benefits of our modern analytics platform to our High-Tech Strategic customers. You'll consistently execute outstanding presentations, using high-impact speaking and writing skills, with the ability to create and deliver compelling product demonstrations. These demonstrations will articulate the technical advantages that benefit our customers' business as well as their goals.

You will have the opportunity to learn the Tableau Analytics Platform offerings, the descriptive and predictive (AI/ML) use cases that best leverage them and the IT environments with which our platform integrates. As a technical lead to our Sales Team, you will actively contribute to account planning and customer adoption/success through alignment of customer goals using proven best practices.

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Arranges and conducts in-person (when safe to do so) & web-based meetings as necessary to support pre-sales activities (e.g., discovery, requirements analysis, presentation/demonstration, etc.) with customers and prospects.
  • Develops and delivers outstanding presentations and demonstrations that range from standard to custom by generating compelling, interactive points of view.
  • Leverages the Tableau platform for Guided Evaluations, Interactive Workshops and Proof-of-Concepts (POC) scenarios.
  • Formulates and leads all aspects of the technical sales process
  • Identifies other pre-sales resources required for deliverables, ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria of obtaining results
  • Researches new technologies, tools and methodologies as they emerge that may be applicable
  • Communicates daily with sales teams regarding sales activities and tactics to support our customers
  • Acts as the customer advocate and liaison for product management and development
  • Supports the sales team's readiness in the use of Tableau products



Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize well in a fast paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Solid listening skills. Can quickly digest information and respond in an accurate and concise manner. Ability to respond appropriately to complex questions.
  • Can demonstrate knowledge of the Analytics industry, the Analytics continuum from standard/operational reporting to advanced/augmented analytics inclusive of an understanding the basics of data science & machine learning.
  • Ability to identify risk and communicate potential solutions.
  • Effectively gives and receives feedback.
  • Analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Technical aggressiveness and ability to learn new technologies and business requirements.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to both business and technical audiences.
  • Technical skill and/or ability to acquire in-depth knowledge/use of Salesforce/Tableau products to effectively position and convey the merits of the enterprise platform to customers and prospects.
  • Understanding and experience in the Comms and Media space a plus.



Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years' Pre-sales experience or equivalent, ideally focused on/within the High-Tech industry.
  • 3+ years' experience using Tableau Software (inclusive of both Tableau and Tableau CRM) or other business intelligence solutions
  • Demonstrated quantitative ability, such as statistics or analytics
  • Experience with databases and data analysis tools
  • Experience with network and web infrastructure
  • Experience with Enterprise ETL or Data Preparation tools a strong plus
  • Proficiency in technologies complimentary to Tableau software such as the following: Enterprise software architectures, Salesforce, cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google), ETL (e.g., Informatica, Alteryx), SQL or MDX (e.g., MySQL, Snowflake, PostgresSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, Redshift, Cloudera), .NET or JSP, Java, Linux, Windows, and network security/authentication.
