The Strategic Pursuit Manager is responsible for developing and managing the North American pursuit center of excellence and a team of pursuit resources with accountability for the efficient and effective use of NPPT resources to support strategic pursuits. S/he is responsible for utilizing and/or coaching direct reports on: project management tools and principles; developing strategic and consistent messaging that enhances our ability to differentiate and win new business; providing coaching to pursuit teams for effective written and oral presentations, proposal templates and related presentation materials. S/he also serves a strategic resource and quality control reviewer for proposals and related materials.

Responsibilities:

  • Using firm criteria, evaluates daily requests for North American Pursuit & Proposal Team support, identifies appropriate actions and resources, coaching and collaborates with senior resources on live pursuits.
  • Collaborates with pursuit teams and other stakeholders to support creation of high-impact proposals, presentations and templates focused on prospect needs.
  • Provides leadership to pursuit teams and other proposal writers to ensure strategic and consistent messaging and drive high impact pursuit deliverables.
  • Identifies and implements team-wide internal learning/training opportunities for NPPT members that emphasizes the firm's long-term strategic vision(s) and team collaboration.
  • Writes original pursuit content and works with pursuit teams to determine key messages (e.g., value proposition, win themes and other key differentiators).
  • Evaluates requests and collaborates with industry/LOB leaders and marketers to craft unique pursuit content for toolkits, FAQs or unique proposal templates.
  • Serves as NPPT's liaison for the firm's overall primary industries working pod content development and industry strategy, collaborating with firm industry leadership on advancements.
  • Supports strategic, high-focus growth practices for the firm, such as SEC or Federal, working with unique practice stakeholders to produce proposal deliverables.
  • Collaborates with practice stakeholders to surface, prioritize and fill gaps in related modular pursuit content, participate in strategic planning discussions, understand practice target lists and fiscal year goals, independently build relationships with practice stakeholders and dedicated business development peers.
  • Serve as an advisor for key focus practice stakeholders and on specific pursuit teams to support RSM's pursuit process throughout the growth platform model, providing tangible pursuit support at each stage, as appropriate.
  • Drive discussions with practice stakeholders on win themes, value proposition, firm differentiators and other strategic messages for both in-progress pursuits and enhancing Proposal Central content.
  • Conducts market and industry research as needed for customized proposal/presentation content. Collaborates with NPPT resources in gathering and synthesizing competitive intelligence to better position RSM against our top competition.
  • Other duties as assigned


Basic Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or English
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of increasing responsibility and substantive and demonstrable business writing experience, including the development of proposals in a professional services environment.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Understanding of Associated Press (AP) style.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and written with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to develop pursuit deliverables that effectively communicate complex and/or distinctive concepts in a clear, concise manner.
  • Detail-oriented; productive without compromising quality.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, critical-thinking and time management skills.
  • Strong coaching, communication, problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize to meet daily deadlines and capable of operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage internal client expectations.
  • Experience managing people and processes in a virtual environment.
  • Can confidently offer new and potentially challenging ideas to foster conversation and critical thinking
