About the Role
Orchard is looking for a Mortgage Quality Control Analyst/ Auditor to perform Pre-Fund Quality Control (PFQC) review of residential loans for compliance, credit re-underwriting, data integrity, and fraud misrepresentation; ensuring investor’s guidelines are met. For Post-closing Quality Control (PCQC), working with 3rd party Vendor and Operations to ensure all deficiencies are communicated and addressed. Works closely with Management to ensure file reviews are accurate and service level agreements (SLAs) are met. The primary responsibility is to ensure all loans are compliant, and properly underwritten (and closed), as defined by current FNMA/ FHLMC, FHA, VA, investor, internal, and regulatory guidelines.


This is a full time role that will report into the Director of Compliance and be based out of our growing Austin, TX office with the option to be remote.

 

What You’ll Do Here

  • Responsible for completing daily minimum required files based on business need per day and meeting quality standards
  • Responsible for accurate and timely audit of all residential loan files selected for discretionary, target, and random audits. The audit is conducted prior to closing, ensuring the loan meets FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, Investor, and Industry guideline requirements.
  • Validates cures and reviews responses from responsible parties
  • Performs Pre-Funding audits, including re-underwriting mortgage loan files for consistency and compliance to ensure loans are within agency, investor, and internal guidelines
  • Determining the rating of deficiencies found in the loan file
  • Communicates all post-closing findings from 3rd party Vendor to operations
  • Prevention and/or misrepresentation issues are properly addressed, cleared, and/or escalated
  • Performs written communication to responsible parties to include finding analysis, conclusion, and recommended actions
  • Upholds proficiency in loan policies, products, procedure manuals, and investor guidelines (FNMA, FHLMC, VA, FHA, and Jumbo) and other correspondent investors.
  • Reviews and analyzes credit, appraisal, title, and complex income documentation
  • Confirms files meet all agency guideline requirements to produce an acceptable audit review

We’d Love to Hear From You if You Have

  • Minimum 5 years previous experience in mortgage QC, including experience with
    conventional, jumbo, non-QM, and government loans
  • Previous experience in reviewing and analyzing mortgage credit packages, AUS findings, and
    calculating loan ratios and variables
  • Prior working knowledge and experience in the calculation and verification of income and assets,
    evaluation of credit reports, purchase contracts, appraisals, title commitments, and other pertinent
    loan documentation
  • Strong underwriting experience preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of consumer protection laws and regulations
  • Experience conducting compliance monitoring and testing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with customer support and service orientation
  • Ability to work cooperatively and professionally in a fast-paced production environment
  • Strong attention to detail with organization skills including the ability to prioritize and work well under time constraints to meet
    deadlines (must be able to handle heavy workloads during peak periods)
  • Strong working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel and knowledge of audit software Insight and LOS BytePro preferred
