Meta Data Specialist

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Meta Data Specialist, are to:

  • Facilitate the maintenance of data in and continuous Improvement of the NA Central Metadata Repository;
  • Influence the usage and maintenance of the data repository;
  • Develop and monitor operational metrics regarding the metadata repository to ensure the repository is kept up-to-date;
  • Update areas of the metadata repository where appropriate based on input from Technical or Business stakeholders;
  • Use business acumen and functional stakeholder input to understand data needed for process enablement, to locate the needed data, and to translate to the right measures at the right granularity to answer the question being asked with appropriate presentation;
  • Assist technical and business stakeholders with finding answers to metadata questions generated through normal business operations;
  • Collaborate with business and IT colleagues to define and document data and metric definitions;
  • Build strong working relationships with Product Supply, Finance and Commercial data consumers to understand the definition of data/metrics and how they are used in the business;
  • Work with IT Data Stewards and Data Support Teams to understand business rules behind available data to enable proper interpretation for metrics;
  • Understand and leverage common definitions of cross functional and cross brand metrics and calculations;
  • Work with Business Insights team member to support data/metrics definition workshops;
  • Develop awareness and training assets regarding the NA Central Metadata Repository;
  • Understand and leverage basic change management concepts and processes to develop change management plans designed to shorten acceptance and learning curves for the data definition repository and the applications built on it;
  • Use interpersonal skills to deliver the planned communications and training to the target audiences for the data definition repository and the applications built on it;
  • Monitor automated data validation processes for data quality gaps;
  • Leverage baseline understanding of defined process metrics to manage validation tracking mechanisms;
  • Leverage and coordinates expertise of system and database subject matter experts to solve data quality deficiencies;
  • Develop and maintain the necessary data and documentation to understand the data elements, respective sources, expected range of answers;
  • Work with BI Team members to maintain a data repository, regular reporting and ad-hoc reporting for internal data validation metrics.

  • This role is based in St.Louis, MO with an option for remote work

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science or Engineering with at least two years of experience working with data (e.g., Finance, Data Warehousing, Data Analytics, Reporting);
  • Excellent critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills in the data arena;
  • Demonstrated technical competency of organizing and facilitating problem solving in a group environment;
  • Business acumen in area of relating data to business process drivers and performance management. Adjusts communication appropriately to both business and IT audiences;
  • Collaborative team-focused delivery experience.



Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in related field (e.g., Business Intelligence, Data Science, Analytics); Ag Industry and/or supply chain knowledge;
  • Experience leveraging one or more tools in the Business Intelligence space (e.g., Tableau, SAP Business Objects Webi, Web FOCUS, QlikView, Microsoft BI, Microstrategy, Cognos, Alteryx, Paxata, Trifacta, Informatica, Talend, Ascential) or with data analysis/reporting using standard business tools (e.g., Advanced Excel, Advanced Microsoft Access).
