The Opportunity

We are looking for a dynamic leader with excellent communication skills and experience leading a high potential team, with a background in technology, business intelligence, and strong logic and problem solving. This Manager's responsibility is centered to innovate, build, and maintain well-managed data/BI solutions and capabilities to tackle business problems. This position would leverage Python, SQL, Snowflake, and Power BI to build world class reporting and analytical solutions for Ally's Auto portfolio, strategy and loss forecast Asset Management team.

The Work Itself

    • Responsible for managing and mentoring a team of business intelligence and data management analysts
    • Responsible for the design, development, and support of business intelligence solutions to meet reporting and analytical needs from Ally's Auto portfolio, strategy and loss forecast Asset Management team
    • Partner with leaders and strategy analysts to provide data support and gather requirements to centralize business curated metrics in future state Snowflake cloud data warehouse, and to design and develop tools, techniques, metrics, and dashboards for insights and data visualization
    • Work with business leaders to lead and design executive and operational dashboards in Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau and ThoughtSpot.
    • Develop analytical tools and data products for several internal stakeholders, using python and Power BI among other technologies.
    • Prioritize data stories with enterprise data and analytics IT team and work as a data product owner to manage sprint deliverables and deliver high quality data products.
    • Experience and working knowledge in extracting data from traditional data warehouse, big data ecosystems and cloud data warehouses to produce critical data for business analyst executives and operational leaderships.
    • Possess Data Warehousing principals and concepts to help build reporting data marts in Oracle, Big Data platforms: Hadoop and Cloud data bases e.g. Snowflake/Red Shift
    • Advanced working knowledge of SQL, SAS, and Databases with the ability to write complex SQL statements to build data tables and produce reports
    • Experience with Business intelligence and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Cognos and must have developed/managed BI solutions/dashboards.
    • Develop and maintain self-service reporting solutions and/or automated solutions
    • Participate in the design and implementation of logical and physical data models

    • Ensure stability, performance and support of production reporting and meet demand for data across Analytic teams

    • Interact with senior management, department leaders and other employees to develop and reach agreement on reporting requirements and priorities
    • Address user questions concerning data integrity
    • Support Snowflake cloud data platform initiative to bring business teams on board with data, reporting, processes, tools integration, access, and analyst community migration

    • Stays current with industry trends and leads development of key data/analytics innovation platforms



The Skills You Bring

  • Required:
    • Bachelor's Degree in the field of Business, Finance, Computer Science, MIS, IT or Engineering preferred
    • 5+ years of Reporting and visualization experience such as Power BI, Cognos, MicroStrategy, Tableau, and Excel etc.
    • 5+ Years of Experience working with Relational databases, warehouses and cloud data warehouse experience is preferred. Databases - Oracle, Teradata, Hadoop, Snowflake/Redshift
    • 5+ Years of Experience writing complex /Advanced SQL/PL SQL and Curating data layers.
    • 5+ Years of experience in coding in Big data environment, Cloud data platforms such as Cloudera Hadoop, AWS or Microsoft Azure
    • 5+ Years of Experience in Scripting language such as Python/R and must have knowledge to schedule data scripts to automate data pipeline creation.
    • Functional knowledge and working knowledge of various data architecture patterns and have a good understanding of data warehouse and big data technology
    • 2 - 3 years of experience in the auto financial services industry, with knowledge of (or exposure to) portfolio, forecast, servicing operations in consumer finance preferred
    • Experience in AWS and Snowflake data environment is a plus
    • Working knowledge of visualization libraries in Python (e.g. bokeh, flask, Django, etc.)
    • Analytical drive to break down complex problems, and a strong will to deliver results
    • Ability to deal with ambiguity and competing objectives in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to display complex quantitative data in a simple, intuitive format and to present findings in a clear and concise manner
    • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
    • Quick learner and critical thinker with demonstrated ability to initiate, develop and execute small to medium scale projects
    • Work well within a team of analysts and collaborate with individuals with technical and non-technical backgrounds
    • Ability to work effectively in fast paced environment with tight deadlines
