We are looking for a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to create a new system to protect our customers from risky and unintended transactions, ensuring the safety of our financial platform.

Guideline executes millions of financial transactions in our customers' retirement accounts - contributions, distributions, loans, and mutual fund purchases/sales. You will help build a nascent Fraud Detection system and improve Guideline's financial platform, allowing us to scale exponentially on all financial transactions safely. Your work will help keep costs low for our business and save our end-users on their retirement.

What Will You Work On

  • Guide all stages in the machine learning project lifecycle, from production and operationalization to modeling.
  • Understand the business/customer problem thoroughly and create usable solutions.
  • Integrate production solutions with the rest of Guideline's tech stack in GCP in collaboration with the engineering team.
  • Create systems to facilitate communication between our Customer Operational teams and customers.
  • Onboard, mentor and establish best practices to amplify impact and grow members of the Data Team.
  • Create reusable frameworks, processes, infrastructure and modules to accelerate development and improve the quality of the team's deliverables.

What We're Looking For

  • 8+ years of professional experience in a similar function, 2+ years of experience leading projects
  • Graduate or secondary university degree in quantitative disciplines (Computer Science, Maths, Statistics, etc.)
  • Experience in full-cycle machine learning engineering, applied statistics, and data science modeling
  • Familiarity with at least 1 production programming language (Python, Java, Scala) and 1 datastore technology (transactional, analytical, key-value)
  • Track record for Agile project management and developing large-scale systems for fraud or anomaly detection
  • Past success in mentoring and developing team members.
