As a certified B Corp, our mission is truly woven into the fabric of what we do. As you grow professionally, you are doing good for the planet by helping us to transform the way consumers access clean energy and accelerate the world’s transition to a net-zero carbon future.

Our rapidly growing Data Platform and Services Team of mission-driven, climate enthusiasts is passionate, innovative and committed to a better future for the planet. We are looking for a Junior Machine Learning Engineer to develop, deploy, and build systems to scale and monitor our machine learning models. Some examples include electricity and gas forecasting, and customer lifecycle modeling. These models are critical in driving operational decisions: supporting our energy trading, customer pricing, acquisition strategy, financial forecasting, and more.

How you’ll help:

  • Develop robust, configurable, and scalable systems for our machine learning and predictive models
  • Develop data quality and model performance monitoring systems and testing frameworks that help us understand risks and improve our model performance and system reliability over time
  • Define and develop clear and testable interfaces with consumers of our modeling services
  • Analyze and validate changes in data; communicate impact of data and engineering developments to stakeholders (e.g. engineering, energy trading, commercial strategy, consumer pricing, analytics)

Some 1 year deliverables:

  • Deliver data pipeline quality and model performance monitoring systems for our electricity and survival forecast
  • Improve the self-service configurability, scalability (via Spark), and robustness (via testing and monitoring tools) of our forecast services
  • Productionize model prototypes to deliver value to our stakeholders

Here’s what you’ll bring to the table:

  • Must Have
    • 1-4 years of experience applying machine learning and statistical knowledge to drive business value, specifically with Python and SQL
    • Experience productionizing machine learning applications with data engineering frameworks like Apache Airflow, dbt, AWS services, Docker, Snowflake
    • Fluency with data visualization to communicate complex topics in approachable ways
  • Nice to Have
    • Experience with data engineering frameworks: MLFlow, Apache Spark, Hive, Kubernetes
    • Experience with machine learning frameworks: scikit-learn, Light GBM, XGBoost, lifelines, pytorch, Tensorflow/Keras
    • Experience building data and machine learning model quality monitoring systems
    • Software development lifecycle experience in GitHub (ie environment management, testing, deployment)
    • Experience at a similar scale of data processing (Multi-TB/billions of rows)
    • Work with real-time event stream data
    • Contextual work in the energy industry
