About the job
The Geo Schema team curates Geo's representation of the world. We define and maintain schemas for geographical entities at Google. We also build libraries for working with those schemas, maintain infrastructure for validating edits to Geo data and pipelines, and more.
The team's goals are to simplify the process of extending or modifying our schema through new tools/policies while enabling editing of Geo data across Google products. This work plays a central role in how teams across Google use geographic data and how we keep it useful and reliable. You will have the chance to collaborate with many different teams, both within Geo and across Google, like the Search, Shopping, and Health teams.
Geo builds the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for our users. More than a billion people rely on Google Maps services to explore the world and navigate their daily lives. That includes sailing down the Amazon river, choosing where to get a bite of pizza, and saving time in commuting.
Geo also helps merchants get their businesses on Google, and developers use the power of Google Maps to enhance their apps and websites. They are solving complex computer science problems, designing beautiful and intuitive product experiences, and improving the accuracy of our geo data, all in order to plot a course for the future of mapping.
Responsibilities
- Design schema for client teams looking to build new products and features.
- Explore ways to evolve our existing schema ecosystem to better support developers and our users.
