What you'll be doing:

It's essential to good visualization to have a good description of your data. This team owns the job of providing this data source description to other teams and customers. We have created a micro service that takes ownership of Tableau Datasources and provides the information to other clients. We need someone to help us take the next steps and provide more information to more teams, as well as becoming a backbone service in Tableau Online. Your work would help unlock new features and improve the Tableau Online experience and scalability.

Some of the things you'll be doing include:

• Designing and implementing features that enable better management of datasources.
• Working across teams to stand up new features that use our infrastructure.
• Play a key role in evolving our codebase into smaller, independent services, influencing API standards, system design, service integration testing and operational best practices.
• Integrate our Java service with C++ legacy code.
• Be a key contributor for the future direction of our service, and service development across Tableau.

Who you are:

• Experienced - You are a skilled programmer with strong Java skills. You have a demonstrated history of finding efficient solutions to complex problems.
• Service Oriented - Knowledge of Kubernetes, Containerization and GRPC is a plus.
• Passionate - You love designing and creating APIs and interfaces, and have a passion for solving complex problems. You understand what it takes to write software that is used by thousands, even millions, of people.
• Team Player - You enjoy collaborating with, learning from, and teaching others so we all can become better. You assume good intent, and do your part to create a positive work environment.
