What you will be able to do
We bring engineering ideas to life. In Product Development, we make driving more exciting, enjoyable, and balanced. Ford's Driver Assist Technology (DAT) team designs and develops hardware and functional models that provide best-in-class behavior for features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Cross Traffic Alert, Active Park Assist, and 360 Camera Systems.

We are seeking professionals who can contribute to our efforts with experience in the development of sensors, ECUs, models, and software. This position is about the system engineering and system interfaces of sensing, perception and fusion algorithms, which interface to multiple radars, cameras and ultrasonic sensors. It could also involve other elements of the process because we are more interested in adding high quality people to the team than trying to squeeze engineers into a specific role. You will:
  • Work closely with in-house software team, feature teams, function owners, and suppliers to gather sensing and perception performance objectives
  • Lead the development of analytical tools to automate event identification, sensing KPI computation, and characterization from drive data and test track data with instrumented ground truth using high performance computer clusters
  • Architect analysis tools, from data ingestion to reporting, for a variety of use cases
  • Lead the use of closed-loop SIL tools to perform functional algorithm tests
  • Lead the generation of status reports of the sensing and perception system, including requirement compliance and characterization studies
  • Present findings, discoveries, and results to management and department-level teams
The minimum requirements we seek
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related
  • 5+ years of development experience (C/C++, Python, and/or MATLAB) including both professional and academic pursuits
  • 3+ years of experience in Data Science
Our preferred requirements
  • PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineeringor related
  • 8+ years of development experience (C/C++, Python, and/or MATLAB)
  • 4+ years of experience in Data Science
  • 4+ years of experience using machine learning in a data science role
  • Strong communication skills and ability to lead ad-hoc teams
  • 3+ years of experience with ADAS perception algorithms (e.g.object detection and tracking, local mapping, sensor fusion)
