Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

We are growing our expertise in SaaS Data and Analytics - be part of our journey of innovation and enterprise transformation to Subscription and SaaS.

• Within 30 days of employment, establish relationships with your peers, business stakeholders, and gain understanding of VMware's data strategies, product offerings, and operational model, as well as the VMware SaaS and subscription business.
• Within 60-90 days of employment, you will be expected to align with and drive VMware data strategies, while building best-in-class data products to support your partners. Proficiency in various data querying and validation approaches, ad-hoc data analysis and deep dives using various analytics tools is also expected. Critical during this period, is development / application of expertise in SaaS and subscription business related analytics.
• Within 180 days, you will be expected to support your business partners' long- and short-term SaaS and Subscription data needs by strategically positioning data products with the stakeholders. This will require you to build strong relationships, and to consistently produce accurate business assessments, along with translating business needs into long-term data-driven solutions.
• Within 6-12 months continue to improve the self-serve capabilities, as well as the Business /EDA Stakeholders satisfaction with the visibility to business needs and trends that the metrics and reporting reveal.

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

Your regular activities can be modified to suit your professional strengths, but you can expect a variety of the following assignments:

• Deliver SaaS and Subscription metrics and related analytic data sets in VMWare's Enterprise Data Warehouse to support VMWare's transition to a Multi-Cloud business model; effectively drive and improve the self-service model in the business.
• Query data and perform reporting/ad-hoc analyses/deep dives to shape the detailed data requirements for metrics/KPIs and the associated data set.
• Collaborate with business and EDA stakeholders and IT to understand the data needs, build KPIs and metrics to monitor and run the business; create reports using them.
• Support end-to-end Business Intelligence lifecycle development processes as needed, which includes, but is not limited to, capture business requirement definitions (BRD/user stories), create functional requirement definitions (FRD), technical design documents (TDD), and run user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Support the enterprise SaaS analytics effort in pursuit of VMWare's Multi-Cloud and SaaS Acceleration Plan (MCSAP).
• Partner closely with IT counterparts on functional requirements and design to drive successful end state solutions.
• Provide clear path to the automation of metrics and data to the business stakeholders with a clear articulation of dependencies and asks.
• Prototype and implement reports and dashboards to get users engaged and excited about BI & Analytics solutions; provide advice on how to use the metrics and the data
• Oversight and project manage Data, BI & Analytics related tasks within the project such as providing status reports, lead BI requirement gathering sessions and UAT activities.
• Lead current state to future state detailed impact analysis activities to provide input to program and product/solution strategy and approach.
• Connect the dots between different data domains and metrics to help inform data strategy.
• Leads and is accountable for end-to-end testing and QA lifecycle activities to validate requirements are being met through data solutions, data model verification, and AS-IS to TO-BE reconciliations.

Bonus Points if

• You have experience with SaaS and Subscription data analysis, metrics and dashboards, and with setting SaaS standards in the data and analytics space
• You have previous experience in automating metrics, KPIs and successful migration of users from manual reporting to automated analytics
• You have a history of solving data management issues and challenges - proven problem solver, capable of leading people through change
• You have experience addressing change within a large organization
• You know what it means to be in a consumption-obsessed culture.

What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?

You will be part of the Enterprise Data & Analytics (EDA) team at VMware, headed by Travis Icard. This team is responsible for curating and building SaaS metrics and related data and analytics products. Our team is responsible for driving actionable insights across VMware through path-breaking analytics products.

Where is this role located?

One role is based in Costa Rica, the rest are based in the US/Canada; the roles are open to full time remote working from locations within these respective countries.
