What You Will Do

The Lead Business Intelligence Engineer is responsible for overall technical delivery of dashboards and reports using the Microsoft BI stack and migration from SSRS reports to Power BI. The Lead Business Intelligence Engineer will perform their job function by executing all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle including: Analysis, Design, Development and Testing while working in a highly collaborative team environment.

The Lead BI Engineer should be able to:

  • Participate in requirements sessions to understand business needs and come up with recommendations of features and visualizations that can best achieve the needs of the business using Power BI Dashboards, Power BI Paginate or SSRS.
  • Provide input and assist in designing reporting schemas that will be used in the dashboard - based on understanding of metrics and dimensions in report specification.
  • Write complex SQL code, as required, to create data source for reports and dashboards.
  • Develop dashboards of varying complexity making sure functionality is aligned with business requirements.
  • Design and develop SQL stored procedures, functions, views, and triggers
  • Design, code, test, document and troubleshoot deliverables
  • Develop new or enhance existing reports based on business requirements.
  • Determine and communicate project feasibility and sizing estimates through analysis, problem definition, requirement gathering, and solution development.
  • Collaborate with others to test and resolve issues with deliverables
  • Maintain awareness of and ensure adherence to standards regarding privacy.
  • Create and maintain Design documents, unit test cases, data seeding.
  • Ability to perform Data Analysis and Data Quality tests.
  • Perform Continuous Integration and deployment using Azure Devops and Git



Skills and Experience You Will Need

  • 5 years in developing Power BI Dashboards, Power BI Paginated reports.
  • Experience with Power BI Premium and Power BI Architecture.
  • Experience with Power BI Data Sets, Dimensional Modeling, Performance tuning of Power BI Data Sets.
  • Experience with DAX language.
  • Experience working with Microsoft BI stack (SSIS/SSRS/SSAS) and Microsoft SQL server. (5+ Years)
  • Experience of deployment of Power BI Dataset and reports using ALM toolkit.
  • Experience with Git and Azure Devops.
  • Experience in Agile, Jira and Confluence.
  • Solid understanding of programming SQL objects (procedures, triggers, views, functions) in SQL Server. Experience optimizing SQL queries a plus.
  • Advanced understanding of T-SQL, indexes, stored procedures, triggers, functions, views, etc.
  • Must be detail-oriented. Must work under limited supervision. Must demonstrate good analytical skills as it relates to data identification and mapping and excellent oral communication skills. Must be flexible and able to multi-task and be able to work within deadlines; must be team-oriented, but also be able to work independently.
  • Have Healthcare experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of remaining stationary at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift to 15 lbs., as needed
