About the opportunity
The Data Analyst will derive valuable insights from Ontra’s legal product data sets and report on them to product and business stakeholders. Collaborating with other Data Analysts and Product Managers, they will have immediate exposure to product and business metrics: how they are defined, evaluated and adopted for driving our business forward. Great communication, both through the visual presentation of insights and through verbal and written reports, is key to success in the role.
This is a great opportunity for folks looking to build their expertise in product analytics and business analytics. Since our Data Team is in its early stages, the Data Analyst will get to build analytical products from the ground up and help spread our data-driven ethos as the company scales.
The Data Analyst will report directly to the Director of Data, and the location is flexible.*
What you’ll do
- Reporting: Build deep understanding of Ontra's datasets, answer analytical questions and build reports for product and business teams using SQL and Looker
- Data-Driven Collaboration: Work with other data analysts and product managers to develop dashboards and metrics that support company objectives and key results (OKRs)
- Subject Matter Expertise: Provide guidance to stakeholders on how to use data properly in decision making
What you’ll bring
- Experience with data munging and exploration: comfort manipulating data sets and choosing the right data visualizations to inform business decision making
- Fluency in SQL: familiarity with querying databases and constructing complex joins, filters and aggregations to appropriately answer questions of the data
- Effective communication: Excellent communication and problem solving skills and an ability to effectively collaborate with functional leadership across the organization
- Detail-oriented mindset: A strong attention to detail and a well-reasoned sense of skepticism toward the results of analyses
- Willingness to learn: Interest in developing competency with python and applying it to analytical work
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM or quantitative social science field preferred
- Experience with data visualization: Familiarity with a business intelligence tool like Looker or Tableau is a plus
Colorado applicants only: The estimated annual cash salary for this role is $165,000. The total compensation package may also include unit-based compensation and benefits. Salaries for other locations may vary.*
