A-TEK Inc. is seeking a Junior Data Analyst to support our Federal customer based in Bethesda, MD. The Junior Data Analyst is responsible for using their knowledge of data processing software and business development strategies to provide sound business decisions to executives. The Junior Data Analyst’s duties include collaborating with other team members to extract data figures, creating reports based on their findings, and creating data visualizations.

 

The Division of Facilities Services (DFS) is responsible for the creation and implementation of the NIH’s physical master plan and other planning efforts that guide the development of the agency. DFS coordinates the implementation of the capital improvement plan in the context of the NIH’s approved physical master plan and is responsible for space planning, analysis, and management, and provides support to the Space Review Board.

 

DFS is also responsible for Facilities Information System Management (FIMS). This includes the development and maintenance of databases to track all space occupied by the NIH, deficiencies in buildings, development and maintenance of computer-aided design (CAD) floor plans and maps, architectural, survey accurate mapping, geographic information system development, and coordination of access to all of this information.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting National Institute of Health’s (NIH) space inventory data that encompasses over 20,000,000 square feet
  • Serves as a facilities-related data analyst for the campus, specifically focused on space data
  • Provides actionable business intelligence in consultation with management and business units for use in daily and strategic decision-making
  • Responsible for a wide range of routine and customized space-related reporting including the programming of SQL Database queries and scripts to develop custom datasets
  • Generates space-related reports and data visualizations for various NIH offices and applications to include current data summaries and historical trends. Helps others interpret data through effective and meaningful reporting
  • Serves as a liaison between the Facilities Division and external agencies (Health and Human Services, General Services Administration, and National Science Foundation, etc.) for space inventory data
  • Assists other NIH analysts with relating their data to the space inventory data
  • Ensures the quality and completeness of data through error report checking and periodic auditing of data. Responsible for maintaining and validating all space inventory related data
  • Close coordination is expected with the GIS team, CAD team, and Space Planners within NIH to ensure effective and efficient data updates
  • Develops and disseminates specialized queries and graphical reports from the FIMS
  • Participates in and supports the development and implementation of feature and data improvements to the FIMS
  • Creates and updates, any documents used to support the position, such as user’s manuals, process documents, or specialized forms

Required Qualifications:

  • Requires a BA or BS degree from an accredited institution in a management or technical discipline – Computer Science, Information Technology or Business Management (related degrees and equivalent experience will be considered). Prior experience performing data analysis, including business process and requirements elicitation, and documentation a plus.
  • Passionate about the quality and accuracy of data
  • Demonstrated Proficiency with SQL a plus
  • Experience with Data Visualization Tools (Power BI, Tableau, Cognos BI) with experience developing and implementing interactive analytic reports, dashboards, and other data visualizations.
  • Excellent customer‐facing, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and problem‐solving skills are a must as duties will require interacting directly client team members at all levels.
  • Excellent written and oral communication including technical writing and effective listening skills and customer relationship management; must be able to communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to learn the functionality of software applications and the elements of business or user processes and write detailed non-coding requirements
  • Ability to become a product expert and communicate coherently to our customers
  • Ability to learn and document highly complex business rules and processes
  • Ability to write User stories and other SDLC documentation
  • Ability to work in a highly team-oriented, cross-functional, and collaborative environment
  • Proactive self-starter who manages competing priorities, multi-tasks, and meets all deadlines and commitments while remaining flexible and adapts to continually changing priorities
