Job summary
Red Hat's Information Technology (IT) team is looking for an Information Security Analyst to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will join the bright, skilled, and dedicated people that make up Red Hat's Global Information Risk and Security team. You will get a unique opportunity to develop your corporate information security and operations knowledge to meet the challenges of securing Red Hat the open source way. You'll grow your knowledge of the information security industry, working alongside your analyst peers to apply security controls that prevent and detect information security incidents. You'll need to have excellent communication skills, as you will consult with a wide range of customers and stakeholders. You will respond to reports of potential information security incidents, perform initial triage and analysis, and have opportunities to collaborate with senior analysts to deliver corporate information security enhancements, thereby contributing to Red Hat's overall success. As an Information Security Analyst, you should also have skills in areas like system administration, networking, log analysis, cloud technologies, and endpoint detection and response (EDR), as you will help keep all of Red Hat's information systems safe, from endpoints to the datacenter and the cloud. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
Primary job responsibilities

  • Work to understand Red Hat's information security posture
  • Contribute to the success of information security initiatives by participating in individual and team projects
  • Respond to automated detection and alerting for potential security incidents
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for customer inquiries, connecting and engaging with additional subject matter experts as needed
  • Provide security consulting, awareness, and outreach to all areas of the business
  • Stay current with information security developments like vulnerabilities, threat activity, attacker techniques, and countermeasures and assist by applying your knowledge in an enterprise context


Required skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, passion for information security, and enthusiasm for working with open source technologies
  • Technical or operational computer system and networking knowledge; familiarity with information security topics
  • Ability to work effectively and collaborate within a global, diverse, multicultural team
  • Excellent written and verbal customer service and communication skills to convey information effectively and professionally to a wide variety of audiences
  • Experience with some of the major operating systems and a familiarity with their security features, maintenance, and hardening
  • Information security education or industry certifications are a big plus
  • Familiarity with log analysis platforms like Splunk and an understanding of statistical methods are a plus
  • Programming or scripting experience to automate solutions is a plus
