The IT Team is responsible for the Corporate tools and technology that is required for the company to operate effectively and efficiently. We are a growing IT department that plays an integral role in the company’s ability to perform their day-to-day tasks. While supporting an ever growing number of users with top tier tools and applications, our IT team is always aiming to achieve the highest goals and produce the best experience possible for our end users.

Coursera is looking for an experienced and capable Information Governance Specialist to work alongside the IT team and help guide the overall configuration of Corporate systems. We run a fast-paced, but casual office, in a supportive atmosphere. As part of a small but growing IT team, you will wear multiple hats and have the ability to help shape the future of Coursera!

This position will be responsible for the guidance and configuration of our main and most popular systems such as Google Workspaces, Slack, Dropbox, Box and other top of class IT Systems. You will help shape and implement training programs, partner with business process owners to ensure compliance to records and information policies, review new software purchases and more! This is a hands-on position and applicants are expected to have significant experience executing detailed projects and working on cross-functional teams to deliver results.

Responsibilities:

  • Define the scope and model for Coursera’s records and information management and apply continuous improvement processes to the program
  • Ownership of supporting policies and procedures, including Data Classification and Retention while providing thought leadership and expertise on records and information management and coordinating with the litigation team on legal hold related activities.
  • Identify and mitigate enterprise risks impacting key records as assets by partnering with business process owners to ensure compliance to records and information policies
  • Oversight of physical on-site and off-site records storage, including administrative and technical controls. Participation in the review of third-party contract reviews with respect to records retention, classification, and management
  • Participation in incident response and disaster recovery as necessary
  • Security Classification Policy, governance structure and training to ensure our sensitive information is managed appropriately, establish standards for management of ad hoc requirements (working with key stakeholders like Security, Compliance, Finance etc). PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards).

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years information governance experience including international experience with Bachelor’s degree
  • Familiarity with network, system, and other technologies and demonstrated experience managing third party vendors
  • Experienced at delivering global projects to completion within timeframe by fostering relationships with internal/external stakeholders
  • Partner with / play a key role in Application Portfolio Management including Risk Analysis and Retirement, Digital Collaboration, policy development like Acceptable Use or BYOD, Privacy champion for legal, working as a council member on Data Governance, setting retention practices for unstructured non-record information (i.e. email or messaging policy and retention)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in teams and motivate others in a team-oriented, collaborative environment across various cultures and experience working in Cross-Functional & collaborative environments
  • Records and Information Management certification (CRM, AIIM-Association for Intelligent Information Management, IGP-Information Governance Professional)
  • Bachelor's degree in Library and Information Science or related area of study
  • Remain current on all regulatory environment subjects and identification of related requirements
