Our Consumer & Community Banking Group depends on innovators like you to serve consumers, small businesses, municipalities and non-profits. You'll support the delivery of award winning tools and services that cover everything from personal and small business banking as well as lending, mortgages, credit cards, payments, auto finance and investment advice. This group is also focused on developing and delivering cutting edged mobile applications, digital experiences and next generation banking technology solutions to better serve our clients and customers.
Chase Home Lending Technology supports the full product lifecycle of business functions that help Americans build generational wealth though home ownership. The Data Strategy team is looking for talented, insightful and experienced data engineers and architects to strategically lead our modernization, engineering acceleration and business innovation initiatives.
Transformational process is iterative in nature, and we're looking for someone who is comfortable understanding the details of existing and future business needs, while keeping in sight the "big picture". As such, the role can be molded to match individual capabilities of the candidate. Between pure technical architecture tracks, senior technical leadership involvement, or business engagement, we can offer different paths to help our engineers mature into leaders in a way that is appropriate for them.
An ideal candidate would come from either data architecture, software engineering with database development, or data science and analytics background and will add their skills to the group's emerging capabilities.
Individual capabilities and responsibilities will include:

  • Working within a team construct, vet, and implement critical solutions

  • Appreciate details without getting lost in them

  • Ability to analyze and articulate problems and provide input into solutions
  • Able to defend proposed solutions and take on constructive feedback

  • Agility - be ready to quickly refine good ideas and sacrifice bad ones without taking offence
  • Be focused on a goal, not the specifics of the code you author


Required Skills:

  • 3-7 years in data development and/or delivery
  • Problem-solving skills requiring detailed analysis
  • Strong working experience with data management, transformation, matching and enrichment
  • Hands on experience working with an Enterprise-class database platform, either Relational or NoSQL, or both
  • Good understanding of reporting concepts
  • Knowledge of distributed, fault-tolerant, highly-scalable databases and related concepts
  • Understanding of event-driven architecture and common events
  • Strong understanding of programming paradigms such as distributed architectures and multi-threaded program design


Optional Skills:

  • Understanding of mortgage banking or capital markets is a plus.
  • Public Cloud architecture and/or development experience
  • Experience in data governance
  • DBA-level experience, including hands on experience in wring DB queries, stored procedures and basic fine tuning
  • Knowledgeable in high-volume messaging products (Kafka, Solace, AMPS, Kinesis, etc.)
  • Intermediate- or expert-level programming experience in Perl or Python
  • User-level experience with Linux RH6.5 and greater
  • Administrator-level experience with Windows Server technology
  • Scripting including PowerShell, bash, csh, or sh
