About the Role

This role will help define and support G2’s industry thought leadership strategy, building insights that help G2 shape perceptions of the software industry, as well as drive market awareness through media opportunities. This position would encompass regularly identifying trends in software and authoring or supporting high-profile industry reports on the state of software and software buying/selling. Reporting into the VP of Brand and Communications, this role also involves identifying influential, data-driven topics and providing a perspective on those trends that will earn G2 industry attention and credibility.

We’re looking for someone who is an exceptional storyteller using data and who has experience defining narratives through data that lead, shape and influence an industry. Experience with the press is also required. This is a highly cross-functional role requiring close partnership with our research, marketing, sales, and business strategy teams.

In this role you will:

  • Build a calendar of flagship, serialized thought leadership and reports that will earn media attention while helping software buyers and sellers make smarter, more informed decisions 
  • Develop and support G2 industry thought leadership reports, such as our Buyer and Seller Studies and State of Software reports
  • Regularly identify and create influential, data-driven content on key trends in software
  • Develop narratives that will shape G2’s thought leadership and PR presence, in partnership with our Research and Marketing  team
  • Create content, including industry reports, infographics, podcasts, whitepapers, and event/webinar presentations
  • Support the G2 CMO and Customer Advisory Council and lead the creation of custom insights for this audience, that can inform CMO, Sales and Success leaders’  priorities and strategies 
  • Review weekly data from G2 for insights on key industry, category, and company trends that will earn media attention

This role is an individual contributor to start, and will work in partnership with G2’s data analysts, research analysts, and content team to develop our thought leadership

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven performer that has delivered outsized impact on a company and its reputation 
  • Exceptional writer and editor who can quickly pull out headlines from data that are clear, compelling, insightful, and actionable
  • Previous experience as a researcher or analyst at a leading VC, Investment, Advisory or Consulting firm is ideal
  • Experienced with the media/press and public speaking
  • Comfortable with analyzing large volumes of data to derive insights
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about the current and future software, marketing, IT and broader technology industries
