Shelf Engine is searching for a talented Head of Analytics to join our Analysis team. In this role, you will work with multiple teams across functions to gather insights from the data we collect, solve complex problems, and present findings. The goal is to help Shelf Engine make informed data-driven decisions as we continue to scale our team. You’ll accomplish this by becoming an expert in our customers’ businesses, analyzing the impact Shelf Engine can or has had on their business, analyzing data and preparing reports detailing Shelf Engine's own success, and presenting these metrics to the internal team. 

This position is based in Seattle, WA. 

As a Head of Analytics at Shelf Engine, you will: 

  • Lead a team of Business Analysts and managers (you will be a manager of managers) responsible for effectively identifying and interpreting trends or patterns in complex data sets and communicate meaningful insights
  • Evaluate economic potential and pricing strategies for expansion opportunities
  • Provide 1:1 coaching and professional development for each team member
  • Implement and drive process improvements, creating efficiencies for the team
  • Partner with leadership to set the strategy for the department
  • Work closely with cross-functional leaders to support company-wide initiatives
  • Act as a liaison between teams, analyzing and interpreting data to support decision-making processes
  • Provide astute and timely data-driven recommendations on how to improve customer performance.
  • Oversee team responsible for conducting the full lifecycle of analytics projects; including everything from pulling and manipulating data to visualizing and sharing the results in an effective manner, both internally and externally
  • Ensure company reporting is aligned to the most relevant metrics and accurate
  • Develop actionable roadmaps for improving workflows and business intelligence tools, and establish and organize company KPIs

What we are looking for in a candidate: 

  • You embrace our company principles: make the first move, make better decisions, be furiously curious, commit and deliver, have empathy, invent solutions, be authentic
  • You have 7-10+ years of experience in Business Analytics or Data Science, including 3+ years of managing an analytics team
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with employees at all levels of the organization from C-Suite to early career
  • Passion for data and using it to tell compelling stories, identify opportunities, and solve challenging business problems
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Independent problem-solving abilities and comfort with ambiguity; able to appropriately identify and scope unstructured issues and solve them without guidance
  • Willingness to pick up the phone to talk to the team to diagnose problems and solution how to get valuable information for solving data and problems not clearly understood
  • Adept at presenting insights confidently to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proficiency with SQL and data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc) required; Python experience preferred
  • Strong Finance acumen required, specifically pricing profitability analysis and other financial modeling to support opportunity analyses
  • You have a Bachelor’s degree (preferably in mathematics, computer science, finance, or economics) or equivalent professional experience
  • You are authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer
