We're seeking a Genomics Data Science Lead to join us in our mission to improve human health and quality of life through the development, distribution, and application of advanced computational methods!
Our company aims to revolutionize drug design through the use of breakthrough computational methods. Schrödinger's platform is transforming the discovery of novel therapeutics, and we're developing a robust preclinical pipeline and portfolio in multiple therapeutic areas, including oncology, immunology and neurology.
As a member of our Drug Discovery Team, you'll drive maximized data utility through data warehousing, data curation, and data visualization across a variety of teams. Through integrating large-scale public and internal data resources, you'll promote data democratization and governance throughout the full discovery operation

What you'll do:

  • Spearhead the development and execution of data science strategy to support genomic and genetic data management, data analysis, and data visualization in preclinical and clinical space
  • Lead internal team and external collaborators to automate business processes around data acquisition and ingestion
  • As an integrated member of the drug discovery team, work with computational biology, biology, and translational science to understand scientific questions, data needs, and pain points and translate them into business needs and communicate with Enterprise informatics, Data Science team, and IT
  • Work with data architects and data scientists to design and build solutions to facilitate data integration, harmonization, access and analysis, especially -omics datasets
  • Leverage personal expertise, available data, published findings and best practices to educate broader drug discovery team members on genomic data types, sources, and applications, in an effort to promote data utility, efficiency and democracy across the organization
  • Mentor junior data scientists in genomic-specific data curation best practices


What you should have:

  • A PhD in Data Science, bioinformatics, or a related field, or an MS with at least six years of relevant working experience (previous working experience in the pharmaceutical industry is preferred)
  • Working understanding of the complexity of genomic data structure and data processing pipelines
  • Experience with ontology dictionary development and semantic analysis in data integration and normalization
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in working with a wide range of R&D data in preclinical, translational, biomarker studies (genomics, genetics, proteomics, etc.), including data curation, integration, and visualization
  • Familiarity with modern sequencing technologies, including but not limited to bulk sequencing, single cell sequencing, functional genomics, is desired

Estimated base salary range (NYC only): $150,000 - $180,000. Actual compensation package is dependent on a number of factors, including, for example, experience, education, degrees held, market data, and business needs. Additional Perks + Benefits

In addition to our regular paid time off, we also offer a week off during the last week of December. The past three years, in recognition of our employees' incredible efforts, we also offered a week off in August as "Project R&R."
